Well a 1992 vw diesels fuel pump is actually on the front of the engine... the diesel injector pump is the fuel pump... you really don't want to touch this since it takes specific knowledge/tool to adjust... not sure what you issue is... there is no fuel pump on a diesel car in the fuel tank...

if you want to identify it just follow the four steel lines from each cyl to a round cylinder that is lying horizontal in on the front of the engine... it will also have two fuel lines going from the fuel filter to the top of it... that is the pump... on a 92 you will have your throttle cable hooked up to it as well... hope this helps...

Hi gmotsing,

As I recall, there are three pumps on the diesel Jetta.... One on the filter housing, in the engine compartment.....Two on the injector pump..... The head and Rotor and the delivery pump inside.... The only one I suggest you tackle, is the filter housing.

As a matter of interest, if your problem began by running out of fuel, there is a pumping device on top of the same filter housing, and there is a bleeding nipple too.... Pump the device until you feel the action becoming hard and then open the bleeding nipple and continue to pump until all the air is expelled....Close it of pump some more and while still pumping, get someone to crank the engine....make sure that the park brake is on and the gear shift in neutral....or park if it's an automatic....

If that doesn't work, then check for leakage along the fuel lines....Still no luck....A repair shop is the next stop.... I think that you'll need to have the injector pump and the injectors repaired serviced and re-calibrated.... and sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings.... That's going to be expensive....

Best of luck

SOURCE: diesel fuel leak. looking for diagram of injector

Get a professionally rebuilt pump. Don't try to mess with rebuilding yours, it isn't worth it. I know the rebuilt pumps are high ($450) plus, but it will pay off in reliability and performance.

Location manual diesel fuel cut off switch on 1985 jetta or is it a pull lever on dash///////like the ones on 5 ton diesel military trucks///oshkosh type

Your fuel cutoff switch on these engines are located on the fuel pump itself right by the injector lines and takes an 8mm wrench on the nut for the wire.

I have a 1996 jetta turbo diesel and the fuel pump is not working i look at the fues and the pump and i'm not getting anything

Fuses wont help. If the fuel pump isn't working, then you need to change it. Second thing, maybe its not a fuel pump, if you will describe the problem we could find out is it realy fuel pump fault.

I have air coming into the fuel system on my jetta diesel

NO it does not have a fuel pump in the tank. It uses vaccum.
and if their are tiny bubbles in the clear line coming from the fuel filter to the injection pump that is normal. Even when the car is not running it is normal to see bubbles in the line. hope this helps.

1992 jetta 1.6L Front strut/spring assem.

According to my research they are the same part numbers so I'd have to say yes. You may want to stop in or call your local parts store for confirmation. If you have to, ask for price & availability for gas, get the info, then say ooops, I'm sorry it's a diesel, does that make a difference on part number & price? My guess is you'll hear, no, same part.

I have not been able to get any fuel coming into the Filter ! so I am thinking that problem is the Fuel Pump and I have not been able to find it's location ! I guess it's in the fuel tank and because it's Sunday I can not even find the part ( Fuel pump) !
If you can tell me where it is that will be great, thanks.Hamid
