Question about GMC Yukon

1 Answer

My transmission starts ok in drive shifts again at about 15 to 20mph but will not shift again at about 30 to 35 mph. can it be true that my module is bad that shifts my trans from 2nd to 3rd gear?

My '99 Yukon has 230,000 miles...only in the last few days have I been suspect of the transmission. I noticed that upon stopping the truck would shake until fully stopped..then it would rev normally. When I took my foot off the break the transmission seemed to "****" into first gear. Today, the truck didn't want to get out of 2nd gear. Between 30-35 mph the truck would rev real high...couple seconds after taking my foot off the gas the trani shifted into 3rd...just drove it to a safe space?

QUESTION??? How minor/major is this? Does it have a fix or do I need to buy a new one?

Transmission shifts hard

You don't give me much information to work with. However, 1st, look at the engine mounts. You may have a broken mount. This will make it feel like the transmission is shifting hard. Other than that, there is only a few things that will cause this. The speed sensor tells the computer when to shift the shift solenoids. It may not be "seeing" a quality signal. If this is the case, the speedometer will be bouncing too. Last idea is that it is skipping a gear. Starts in 1st, should go to 2nd at about 10 MPH. 3rd at 25 to 30 MPH. And, if you have a Overdrive transmission, it should go into overdrive at around 45 to 55 MPH. If it is skipping 2nd, it will engage 3rd at a high engine speed, and will feel like a sudden slam into gear. If this is true, your transmission needs some work. Hope this all helps. Good Luck.

My 2004 montana shifts into 2nd an 3rd but wont shift into drive and there is no slippage

That is called overdrive. You have an electronically controlled transmission, so you must have the control module checked for codes with a special tool called a scanner.

Transmisssion shift and cruise controll problem I have a '98 Chrysler T&C AWD. I am experiencing periodiac drive off problem where the ****** seems to be stuck in 1st gear. I pull over to the curb...

Yes, it is the TCM (transaxle control module). It sells for a little over $100.00 and is easy to replace; however, you have to retrain the transmission to shift again. You send the ****** to school by driving it.

1978 Granada 250 shift points are off

Sounds like you may have accidentally removed the vacuum line to the modulator valve on the back of the transmission. (worst case, the headers may have burned through the hose, but either way, this is more than likely the problem.
Hope this helps
Chris.
