Hello Tnelson, I had this happen to my Ford. There was debris in the crankcase. After driving ten minutes, the oil pump pick up tube screen would clog up and restrict the oil going to the oil pump. I drained the oil and poured a half gallon of liquid carburetor cleaner into the crankcase. I let the carburetor cleaner soak for a few hours. I drained the carburetor cleaner and changed oil filter. I installed the correct amount of oil and the low pressure problem was solved.
It will be very helpful if you post the type of car you are having problems with so we can try to help. But rule of thumb is that if you are getting oil into cylinders, your piston ring or rings are failing... Depending on the mileage of your car that means that the engine needs an overhaul. A good mechanic can do a compression test on your engine for a very reasonable price so you can get an estimate of the parts and labor needed. Good luck!
Hello Harold, You could have a worn out oil pump or worn out cam bearings. I had the same problem with mine and found out that there were particles in the oil pan. After driving for 15 miles the particles would clog the screen in the oil pump pick up tube. The oil pressure would drop to 10 pounds. I could shut off the engine for 30 minutes, start it up and had full oil pressure until I drove it again for another 15 miles. I thought I going crazy. I could not remove the oil pan without removing the engine. I drained the oil, installed the oil drain plug and added a couple gallons of Berryman B-12 carburetor cleaner to the oil fill hole in the valve cover. I let the carburetor cleaner soak into the pick up tube screen for an hour. I DID NOT start the engine but I DID crank the engine with the kill switch OFF to get the cleaner into the oil pump itself. I drained the carburetor cleaner out of the oil pan, added new oil, removed the oil filter and cranked the engine with the kill switch OFF again until I got clean oil through the oil filter housing. I screwed on a new oil filter and fired her up. Problem was solved and never came back. I hope you have as good of luck as I had. If your oil pan can be removed easily, it would be best to replace the oil pump with a new one.
Not sure of year model of car but some vehicles have a return spring to pull the throttle down, which can break. You should get some throttle body cleaner if your vehicle has one and clean same. If you have a carburetor get carburetor cleaner and spray mechanism which moves when accelerator pushed and also spray down throat of carburetor. Many people cause a vehicle fire by cleaning carburetors while the engine is running. Do NOT oil any throttle parts.
Float in bottom of carburetor is stuck .remove bowl from bottom of carburetor clean float with it in place with carburetor cleaner put bowl back on test run .check make sure you change oil and filter and replace spark plugs.
Your picture won't come up. If you are getting oil in the air filter housing, check your pcv system (Positive Crankcase Ventilation). Your pcv valve may be plugged or not working. And just so you know, it is not a carburetor. It is a throttle body assembly with throttle body injection. You have fuel injection with injectors mounted in the assembly-much more reliable than a carburetor.
Hi ! Firstly see if the choke wire is stuck from inside itself or from the Carburetor side. To check this you will need to pull - push the small knob on the Carburetor where the choke wire is attached. If it moves freely then the choke wire is stuck in itself.
If it is stuck from the Carburetor side then you could use a spray like WD40 to free the leaver.
Else disengage the wire from the Carburetor and pull the wire out from the inside. Clean the wire and lubricate it by using any good lubricant (engine oil works the best). Then slowly push the cable back and fasten the wire back with the Carburetor. Regards Berry.
What the heck did he think he was putting in the tank? Gear oil is very thick and heavy, so the fuel pump may have a problem as it is meant to pump gas, which is not thick and heavy like gear oil. There was probably some gear oil in the tank while the pump was operating, and it pumped some gear oil for a short time, which damaged it. Insist that the 'mechanic' replace the fuel pump at no cost to you ,and find a new mechanic for future repairs. Good luck.
