Truck won't stay in park

I have a 1987 Chevy C10, scottsdale, truck I bought off of a friend. It will not stay in park, it slips back out. You have to sit with the brake on for about 5 minutes or so.

How to set timing on a 1987 chevy c10

The decal under the hood is the best place to look for the specific instructions, but depending on which engine you have you will need to disconnect a wire terminal, and then set the timing as usual with a timing light. The decal usually gives the connector location and wire color. If not what engine do you have?
