His problem is caused by the failure of the circuit board that operates the tach needle, you will have to remove the instrument panel then the tach from the panel and send it out for repair to an authorized Nissan electronics repair center, contact your local dealer for the name and number.

My RPM meter is not working...it's always on 0.

I used to have a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse with the same symptoms; my mechanic replaced the speed sensor ($65) and the problem went away. Take the car to auto zone and ask them to plug the computer, they normally do it free of charge. If it is the sensor, you may have to buy at the dealer.

Tachometer does not work and speedometer is intermittent

Since the speedometer comes off the transmission and the tachometer comes off the ignition, they are totally separate except for the ground circuit. So check the dash ground cable, or add another one.

1999 Ford Taurus, There are a couple things not working which may influence both, first the RPM Gauge is not working and either is the Cruise Control. I just replaced the Vehicle Speed Sensor and that...

1. Have you looked at your owners manual for location of the cruise control fuses? 2. Same for the tachometer? 3. Do you live in a wet area with alot of rain? Next chance you have, get some electric cleanout spray from NAPA spray into all cruise control connections and tach connections. 4. Check the recalls from Ford there have been issues with 99 cruise econtrol systems.

I have a 1999 mercury villager that has a slight misfire P303

First clean the MAF sensor with carb cleaner several times with spray.

Then spray short bursts around intake manifold connections to see if idle flares up. That is where leak is.

My 5.4L 2008 Expedition 4x2 idles around 1200 rpm on the tachometer. What is normal for the idle rpm?

That's not normal. RPM for a typical V8 should be around 600-700rpm. 1200 is way high.

Tachometer is not working

please rate highly if this helps.

Check fuse #37, 10 amp yellow in fuse panel on dash.

The camshaft sensor in the distributor sends the tach signal to the instrument cluster. wire is BU = Blue?
