This is telling you a electrical fault in the 4X4 engagement has occurred, most likely the engagement electric motor, pull it out and test the motor.

My 99 Honda Passport's 4 wheel drive light is always on even when it is not in 4 wheel drive. Do you know what could cause this?

check that the actuator is working and there is no problem with either electric or vacuum that tells when the actuator has moved.

I have a 2002 honda passport. In a 4 w drive mode it struggles to turn in a full wheel turn i feel like some thing is trying to stop. No issue while driving straight or while driving in a 2w mode

no worries all four wheel vehicles do same thing, its because all wheels are turning at same speed, just go slow when turning or switch to 2 wheel when turning at a slow speed

How do you determine the ratio, when replacing the rear end of a1999 honda passport v6 four wheel drive.

The ratio is normaly printed on an identification tag fitted to the differential ie. 9.3-1 In other words your pinion turns 9.3 times for everytime your crown wheel turns once. if the differential is open you can also determine it by counting the teeth on the crown wheel as well as the pinion and deviding the pinions amount of teeth with the crown wheels.

I want to know about the power and the winter buttons. I want to know in the snow if I need to use the four wheel drive high or the four wheel drive low. I have a 1998 Honda Passport 4x4 automatic...

Four wheel High is what you need to use in snow. It is similar to your regular driving experience but your speeds should not exceed 45-50 mph. Shift through your normal gears as necessary and drive with appropriate caution. Four wheel High should be used only as long as driving conditions warrant, using it otherwise can cause unnecessary wear on your transmission and drive-train as well as lower fuel economy.

Four wheel low is used for pulling out of a ditch if you are stuck, going through deep mud or rock crawling. Four wheel low will also cause your vehicle to lurch every time you press the gas pedal.

Is the 1999 honda passport a front wheel or rear wheel drive vehicle when the 4WD is not engaged?

Rear. In Europe was on sales until 2003 (last line made) by OPEL as frontera. Equipped mostly with 2.2 Turbo diesel engines, rear wheeler, ability to engage 4WD, under motion up to 60MPH, having automatic front diff locks, and despite the bad critics about crash tests and behaviour, well sold. Still on the roads.

How do I put it in 4 wheel drive

The following URL goes to the manual for your passport. You need Adobe reader (free from Adobe) to read the file. You can not save the manual (except in sections), but you can print out those sections that you need. Page 77 covers your 4-wheel drive transfer.
