One note, disarm the security system, it may be keeping the car from starting, the procedure is in the owners amnual.

If you burnt out the ECM chances are you fried other electronics as well, did you hook up some wiring backwards?

This is a useful link on the code difinition, what it looks like is that the new ECM has a specific key code from the original car, there is a procedure for this issue, either you get new keys made from Lexus/Toyota or find out how to erase the code in the ECM, this code is why the eng won't start, I have no Lexus manuals at home nor does FixYa.com, at this point I would try to get the info from alldata.com, but it is a pay site, unlike this site which is free, and by the way I'm not employed by FixYa.com, just trying to help on my own time, I am a retired techincian.

Sorry didn't have specific info, you could join a Lexus owners forum (look on the internet) and ask the question, there are Lexus tech's there that most likely can answer the question in a few days after posting.

How to replace ecm on 1993 buick century?

remove knee bolster on the passenger side and find the ecm under the dash behind the glove box. some of these you can remove the inner glove box to give you more room. it is held in a bracket that you will have drop down and unbolt the holding fasteners that hold the ecm in the bracket then disconnect the plug connectors to the ecm.

The fuel pump is in the tank, and should be accessible through an access panel in the hatch, if you look under the carpeting.

It sounds like something else went wrong with the car though - if it simply was fuel-starved, you shouldn't have gotten the smoke/burning smell. There are a lot of electronics in the dash and any one of them could've fried. Unfortunately without taking some things apart, it's going to be very tough to figure out what caused it.

Nissan Altima 95 won't start after dying when I was driving, at first it would turn over but not start now it won't even turn over, puff of smoke came off the ground wire when I tried to start it, got hot...

the alternator , battery , or starter has burnt out or has a short to earth , wire may be rubbing on chassis some where, trace the wire that you saw smoke from and make sure its not worn through etc , at the least i would say a new alternator and battery is required , without seeing the vehicle its hard to be specific, hope this helps , also will need to check the fuse box's for any blown fuses , make sure you've located that smoking wire

1996 chrysler sebring convertible horn, lighter, and cruise stopped working

Wow!
Sorry to hear this one. You'll wan't someone ASE certified in Automotive Electronics for sure. Sounds to me like the ECM or engine control module may have burnt out. If it smelled like electrical smoke, don't drive it! I'd suggest an AAMCO, as they do have techs now hat can do these things, wish I could say "Easy Fix" but I can't see the car.. :)

Sounds like you have a broken belt that runs the alternator. Usually when the battery and brake lights come on it means the alternator isn't charging. Either that or the alternator burnt up.

ECM LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT BY THE RIGHT SIDE KICK PANEL OR BEHIND GLOVE BOX.WHEN YOU FIND ECM.LOOK AT PART NUMBER ON ECM MAKE SURE PART NUMBER RIGHT.NOW ECM HAS A MEM - CAL ACCESS COVER.REMOVE ACCESS COVER.TO REMOVE COMPUTER CHIP OR MEM - CAL.FIRST YOU USE TWO FINGERS PUSH BOTH RETAINING CLIPS BACK AWAY FROM THE MEM - CAL AT THE SAME TIME GRASP THE MEM - CAL AT BOTH ENDS THEN LIFT IT UP OUT OF SOCKET. WHEN INSTALLING NEW COMPUTER CHIP OR MEM - CAL MAKE SURE YOU HAVE RIGHT PARTS NUMBER IF NOT YOU WILL DESTROY NEW CHIP.WHEN INSTALLING NEW COMPUTER CHIP OR MEM - CAL PRESS ONLY ON THE ENDS NOT THE MIDDLE.WHEN DONE.DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST.TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH ON.ENTER DIAGNOSTIC MODE AT THE ALCL.SEE CODE 12 ALL IS GOOD IF YOU SEE CODES 41 42 51 OR 52 YOUR MEM - CAL OR COMPUTER CHIP NOT COMPLETELY SEATED OR DEFECTIVE.TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE TAKE WHOLE ECM CASE TO DEALERSHIP LET THEM GET YOUR PART NUMBER OFF OLD ECM UNIT.THAT WAY YOU CANT GO WRONG.

I need to replace a computer brain box for my 2001 Saturn L series Wagon. I'm thinking it is located behind the glove box on the passenger side but how do I get to it?

The ecm is buried under the passenger side windshield cowling. The bcm sits on top of the glove box. Your 4cyl engine uses a timing chain that may have suffered from lack of lubrication due to poor oiling controls. Although you're describing a symptom, ecm's rarely fail ($$$), as your description may have everything to do with the bcm and the factory security system; starting, running then stopping. Have you reviewed your owner's manual for resetting the security system?

Jumping on ecm replacement won't be as easy as you may think as there's a factory security feature that forces all the system computers to communicate with the body control module (computer) before allowing the new kid to work. There's a relearn routine that's part of replacement procedures and unless your ecm find gives you this information, you'll be in more trouble than you can imagine.
