Sounds like the seal on your filter is bad. I'm guessing you tried tightening it by hand. Unscrew the filter and inspect the rubber gasket around it. It's also a good time to throw a new one on it anyway Inspect the block where filter goes on , and make sure you don't see dirt or any obviuos cracks . Before you put the filter back on, wet the rubber gasket with oil. Just a bit. This makes a better seal, and is easier to change the next time.. Hope this helps, rate this solution
if you are leaving an oil trail maby smoking a little and see oil dripping from above your tranny or rolling off the tranny, it could be your oil sending unit has gone bad. i dont know what your driving other than a chevy so check out youtube videos to locate oil sending unit for your car. some are located on the backside of the motor topside like on my chevy truck, some on the side by the oil filter.. without knowing more i cant tell you where it is.. i hope this helps..
under the car should be on the driver side toward the rear of the car. you will need some good ramps and or some car jack stands to get to it.if you are uncomfortable with attempting this just take it to any oil change shop and most will do the job for abuot 25 dollars
I own the car. If you are under the car. look next to the the oil plug. its beyond the exhaust pipe. reach up there and take it out. its facing downwards so make sure u arent looking or oil might spill on you. use a flashlight to find it. taking the tire off is a waist of time when u can reach up and do it. lol im about to do it tomorrow.
the oil pressure sending unit is usally located in the same side the oil filter is and this is because the oil filter is connected to the oil pump so there should be one little single wire in that area
You probably have a canister filter which is located under the hood. You have to screw off the top of a canister and the oil filter looks like a small cylinder-like paper filter. Did you check your owners manual?
