I'm having the same problem with my 2000 sienna. alarm goes off whenever I use unlock on my remote or when I try to unlock door with the key. I've changed batteries, but no luck . Alarm goes off again when I start the vehicle. Haven't noticed any other electrical problems. I've talked to our local toyota dealership and they offered to do a diaognostic but gave no guarantees. Could the problem be with the Integration Relay as mentioned in a previous post?

I have a 2001 Toyota Sienna with exactly the same problem. Alarm goes off when trying to unlock with the key or keyless remote. Only way to shut the alarm off is to put the key into the ignition and turn on the car.

Toyota Sienna 1998 with the same problem that just started after 10 yrs of ownership. Like others, my dealership has never heard of the problem. My batteries are fine. Works the same with both sets of keys and unlock/lock fobs. Only putting the key in the ignition will turn off the alarm. It is funny that the problem will only happen after the car has been sitting for approx 5-10 minutes. When the alarm sounds after the first time, if you lock the car and use the remote immediately the car will open as it should with no alarms whether you use the unlock remote or the key. Let it sit and try and you get the alarms going off.

SOURCE: My alarm on my 2002 Hyundai Sonata keeps going off

Experience with this problem points to several possible causes. First, hood switch is improperly adjusted or rubber button on the underside of the hood which strikes this switch is missing or worn out (does the 'answer back' feature (horn toot) occur when you press the "lock" button on the keyless remote twice?). If it doesn't, this is the first place to look -- is the hood bent out of shape? Often I have found the hood adjustment is SO CLOSE to the hood switch being 'CLOSED', that a simple gust of WIND can set off the alarm.
Next, each door and the trunk have switches which must be in their proper positions (closed -- Open Circuit communication with the ETACS module) for the burglar alarm to SET Active/ON. The problem could be at any one of these switches, not to mention the ETACS module itself. Best solution:Take/tow the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Center (dealership), pay the diagnostic fee. They will tell you EXACTLY what the problem is and what's needed to fix it (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).

somehow the car when on valet mode, go to a alarm shop , they should be able to re arm your car without to much damage to your pocket, or read your cars manual, it might inform you on how to fix the problem.

this is due to a bad switch in the drivers door, when you use the key to unlock the door it should shut down alarm, also the alarm module may be going bad, the alarm is setting itself on, when ever you lock the door the alarm turns on, you will need to replace the switch on the drivers door or unlock the passenger side door that also has a switch that disarms it, the switch is on the lock itself, thats the problem you are having , good day,

My ex girlfriend had a factory installed honda remote strt on her vehicle. It was activated by hitting the lock button two times in succession. Some vehicles use a combination of the lock-unlock buttons. try using some combinations on the remote, many "oem" remote starts are installed by aftermarket installers so who knows what they did as a start function, it could also have been changed by the previous owner.

Sounds electrical/relay to me if you cannot lock by pressing the lock button on the door itself. Driver and passenger acting the same AND the remote all the same result point to only one culprit.
Let me know how it goes and best of luck!
