I checked all the fluids and visable wire conections and the check engine light is still on

you need to find out what diagnostic trouble code has been set in the computer related to the light being on. you can go to a car parts store and they will usually retrieve the code for free, idea being that you will then buy some parts to resolve the problem. you can but you are certainly not bound to. the federal govt has established guidelines about when the check engine light must be lit, the standard is that if a condition exists that would cause the vehicle to exceed 1.5 percent of emissions for that model of vehicle as built, then the light must be lit. the rules do not prevent the light coming on for other reasons, but it must be lit for that reason. because of that rule alot of the time when the light is on it has something to do with emissions. that can mean that something is going on with O2 sensor, egr valve, couple other things. O2 sensors do fail, the nature of how they operate and where they operate (in the hot exhaust stream) causes them to eventually fail. anyway thing to do is find out what code is set and proceed from there. hope that helps

the computor sees one of the engine sensors out of range if you take the car to advanced auto parts or simmular place they can pull the codes then write back with codes and we can help you figure the problem out

Try the o2 sensor
Gas cap tight
Mine kept coming on and I replcaed the sensor and now it is off

when negotiating large hills or pulling a trailer you should turn off the o/d as stated in the owners manual, This could be a built in safety feature telling you that o/d gear is under a major load and needs to be disengaged.

Big auto parts stores will scan for codes free, and see what comes up. Get back to us with code(s) if not obvious from code, and we can better pinpoint your problem.
