Question about 2006 Dodge Caravan

2006 dodge caravan power door will not open

2 days ago the drivers side power door would not open all the way with either the paddle or the button. It would stop after opening only about 5-6 inches. Today, the paddle and the button would not work at all! When trying to open the doors, all I got was a clicking noise. Help!

The latch, harness or motor? Or all the above? I have read some on it and it seems that the harness and motor are troublesome for the caravan.

The door will still open manually. It will not open when you try to use to button inside the van or on the keyless entry paddle on our key chain. Could this have to do with the cold weather? When it warmed up a little in the afternoon, it was able to open about 6 inches when using the button, and then shut all the way when using the button. Happened only one time though, and then we had to open and close it manually.

I have the same problem, it has been a rolling failure of several door locks. First the passenger side sliding door stopped opening and closing with the others, then the driver side sliding door failed a month or two after, and now the driver side window will not move at all.

I wonder why the american car industry needs help?

I have exactly the same problem. Started on left door, then the right, and if it is really cold, the tail gait won't work either. Definitely coorelates with temperature. It seems to me the resistance of poorly lubricated parts or something is making the safety feature shut the motor down as if a baby's head had fallen into the door. (I checked. no kid)

I asked the dealer to lubricate it and they did not do anything as far as I can tell. Of course in the heated shop, it worked.

Looking at the pictures of the parts makes me think it might require an expensive parts change, so I haven't done anything.

You will need to pull the door panel and most likely replace the latch assembly.

If it won't open with the door paddle (this is the door handle I assume?) then the lock motor is not an issue I would think.

You probably have a problem with your Sliding Door Control Module. You will be money (and frustration) ahead if you begin this diagnosis by having your Body Control Module scanned.

Lost my manual and don't know where to find the drivers side power window fuse (and its size) for a 2003 dodge caravan

NO COST and fast PROCEDURE TO
(try to) FIX IT:

1. Sit in vehicle, on seat next to problematic window
2. Ignition key is on
3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it)
4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !!
5. SLAM hard the door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4.
6. Watch window operate as it should.

7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!

I have the exact same problem! It just started 3 days ago with both doors! The doors will only open and close with the remote and not the interior button. Any help is appreciated.

could be a partially broken wire in the wiring harness that runs in the door track. the wires are inside what looks like a plastic chain that allows it to move with the door and have seen them partially break not allowing power to flow the whole time
