Question about 1985 Volkswagen Quantum

Clutch pedal goes to the floor(new clutch installed 2 wks ago)

New clutch and engine installed in a 1983 VW quantum turbo diesel 2 weeks ago. Driving it yesterday the clutch pedal went straight to the floor and I couldn't shift out of gear. The mechanic basically said to put a small vise grip on the cable? I have no idea where that cable even is. He said the c-clip failed? How do I temporarily fix this and how/where is this C clip?

The C-clip was an easy fix once I found it. the clip goes on the top side of a washer connected to the guide for the cable on the engine compartment side. In this case the cable was blue, and the part that left me stranded cost .17 cents to replace! in the future a small vise grips on the cable could "fixya" in a jamb and get you by until the part could be replaced.

    Thanks for the info.

2001 golf 1.8 turbo new clutch

When your driving down the road, and you step on the gas, the engine gets faster, but the car don't. The clutch pedal disengages near the very top at this point, instead of near the bottom like a new clutch would.

97 jetta tdi wont turn over. interior exterior lights work. charged battery. nothing when key is turned and clutch depressed. no clicking nothing. i found a wire above the solinoid heavy gauge red

I'm not a VW diesel expert, but you should have a switch on the clutch to prevent you from cranking the engine in gear. I would look for that switch and check for voltage on both sides with the pedal engaged.
There should be a small wire on the starter solenoid that goes to the clutch switch and then to the key.

Clutch wont work pedal goes to floor and hear ratcheting sound

cluth plate and pressure plate bad,,,noise is more than likely loose clutch material scraping some part,,,how long since new parts installed?? not real expensieve,,but moderate amount of money., if you do it yourself. some have inspection plate you can see a little around flywheel housing,,to possibley survey damage. wipe finger in there and see how much material you get,,a lot,,,replace clutch and pressure plate

I have a 77 Toyota PU. New Clutch installed. Slave and throughout adjusted properly. Adjustment under dash adjusted full out. Still I have to jam the clutch all the way to the floor and barely able to get...

if it worked good before the clutch kit was installed , but not after then the clutch installation is incorrect
probably find the the clutch plate has been installed incorrectly
with a correctly fitted clutch kit , there is no necessity to change pedal height or anything else

Peugeot 106 1.5D. the clutch was slipping so new clutch fitted 2 weeks ago. It was still slipping so that garage replaced the clutch again. Guess what? It is still slipping. Any idea what is going on?

Yes clutch pedal should start to drive about 1inch off the floor and when driving keep your foot away from the pedal,/ also when new clutch is fitted did they fit a complete clutch assy /and did they surface grind the flywheel as if it was badly worn on the 1st one then the new one wouldent last very long.
as when the clutch starts to drive 1" from the floor clutch is good /when it engages right out its buggered and slips so ask about the f/wheel

1996 nissan maxima clutch sticks to floor

yes, Briong the pedal up where it belongs, then open an fill your master cylider. Then go below and open the bleeder intil the fluid runs/drips steady and free of any bubbles. Do not pump the pedal. When only fluid comes out, tighten/close the bleeder and give it a try. Good Luck. If peal dives again, replace the master cylinder.

Clutch pedal stays on floor when released

check the helper spring on the clutch pedal. You'll have to get down in the driver's footwell and using a flashlight look at the mechanism while you push the pedal down (and pull up). If the spring isn't missing or broken and everything looks okay, then change the clutch master cylinder. The piston in the cylinder is probably binding due to corrosion in the bore. I have an 1986 and had the same problem. Changing the clutch master cylinder fixed it.
