My 2000 accent stops running all of a suddden like it has run out of gas.
I replaced the fuel pump to no avail, it will start up with starting fluid and run for awhile and cuts of.f any suggestions?
could be something as simple as the crank sensor malfunctioning. Had this happen to me with about 1/2 of the mechanics I saw saying "its probably the fuel pump, and that's gonna cost ya $$$." So I finally broke down, went to the dealer, and they can read the actual system codes that cheaper mechanics apparantly can't or won't. Try that before dumping tonnns of money.

Not long ago my wife Accent stopped running. I figured out it was a fuel pump problem. So I took the back seat out,(you dont have to drop the tank), and removed the fuel pump. After installing a new fuel pump the Accent still did not run. The fuel pump wasnt charging when the key was turned on. Well I figured out the little 2-3 inch jumper wire (has a plug on both ends with 2 wires in between) goes bad, kind of like a fusable link. So I got that wire and replaced it and problem solved. Now I have a spare fuel pump (the one I replaced).
Find the fuel pump relay, connect across the contacts from B+ to the fuel pump. This will make the pump run continuously. see if the engine stays running. It may be a bad relay or a relay feed circuit which is also run the the auto shut down switch. Lee
I had the exact smae problem and threw aaway a ton of money on bad "guesses" at what was wrong. The actual fix was replacing the crank shaft position sensor for 50 or 60 bucks. Swapped out bad for good and cars has run great every day since.
