Lost key and need to shift to nuetral for towing

on most cars there is secret port cover on the shifting console to unlock from PARK.
for the TOW truck operator
and is covered in your lost operators guide and lost 2nd key.
or call the TOW man , he knows what to do.
some even force the car on to a flat bed, the hard way.

Key on, step on brake key on, shift to neutral. (battery not dead)
do not tow it with steering lock enabled. that be horrible.

wheels up or down front or rear up or down or flat towed

and with RWD and wheels on ground rear, the towing distance is limited to 200 miles or less. so when the rear transmission bearing runs dry and not burns up, < all you need to know there!

has the 200 mile limit, the transmission has no rear tail shaft pump now days, ALL TOW shops know all this stuff.

my Jeep i can tow it 200miles, called flat towing but must stop and start engine every 200miles to add lube to the rear.(tranny shafts)
flat towing is the hard job and I bet you meant flat towed.

best is leave key turned on , hold foot brake, shift to N and then key off but do not set the steering lock ever. (pause and think now)
for some jobs (ask U-hual) they have a bar the locks the steering to FRONT, hard locked, so cars KEY lock can not engage.. towed.
if battery is dead ,jump it. then go to neutral

Yes you can disconnect the cable and shift it manually.How ever if its all wheel drive you can't tow with a tow dolly. Have to do it with a trailer.Find a person with triple A to help you. Have fun!

Have the tow operator pick up the drive wheels and tow it to the service centre.

have you tryied to crank motor put foot on brake put main transmission in nuetral then shift your transfercase back in two wheel drive?
