Change the lifters. They begin to **** after a while on isuzu and suzuki's. Also check your oil pressure. The pumps on those things have been known to fail, leaving many of the clueless without an engine.

SOURCE: water pump replacement 96 isuzu rodeo

Remove belt, fan, fan shroud and fan bracket. Remove timing covers, timing belt and water pump. Replace timing belt and the hydraulic tensioner with new ones. I suggest you get a mechanic to do this as you can easly get it out of time. Not an easy job.

SOURCE: no power to fuel pump 1996 isuzu rodeo

well i got a salvaged ecm from a junkyard and put it in, still did'nt start. took alternator off to have it checked , it is fine. put it back in and now it starts and runs fine. check the alternator and the connections, i heard the alternator controls power after the initial ecm prime when it is turned on. i have no idea how true it is, but worth a shot. if you can find a cheap ecm for a junkyard (mine was 75 bucks) i would try that afterwords.

SOURCE: How do i put transmission fluid in a 1996 isuzu

You have to both check and add fluid to these vehicles from underneath the vehicle. Find the transmission fluid pan and you will find two plugs. The lower plug will drain the pan and the upper one you can add fluid or check the fluid level. You will know that the level is correct when the plug is out and fluid barely leaks out of the hole. You don't want a lot coming out because you don't want to overfill. In order to get it into the hole you have to be some sort of tube to attach to the top of the bottle. They sell these types of tubes at your auto part store and they just screw on. It is very awkward, but you can actually put the bottle high enough to get the fluid in if you put it right to the left of the pan. The first time I did this on mine it was a pain but once you figure it out you will be good to go. Let me know if you have any other questions about your vehicle. Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

2004 Isuzu Rodeo 3.5L, changing valve cover gasket, and valve adjustment procedure....

so this engine should be an 6VE1, this has got shims on top of the valves. So best to go to dealer for this unfortunately. I would only recommend you do it if you are a competent mechanic.
Valve Clearance Standard Value (cold)
Intake: 0.23 mm0.33 mm (0.0091 in0.0130 in)
Exhaust: 0.25 mm
0.35 mm (0.0098 in0.0138 in)
Selection of Adjusting Shim To select the correct size adjusting shim; Add the thickness of the shim removed to the measured valve clearance Subtract the appropriate valve clearance This will give the final figure, which is the thickness of the shim required.

How do i adjust the valves on a 1996 izuzu rodeo

first get someone you know or a registered mechanic to do a commpression test before you touch anything then figure out the correct amount of torque used in your rodeo mechanic guide but beware if you dont have the right tools or are not sure what you are doing you could lock your motor up i would find a professional mechanic to check price since they will already have proper tools and see what they chargefor now i suggest driving the rodeo as little as possible for rodeo deserve alot of care they are great vehicles and have been know to last 300+ miles if taken care of properly your guide is best to go by to see how to adjust them and see what tools you will need oh also if done incorrectly the valves well lets just say most of top half of motor will need rebuilding SO BECAREFUL! AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU

What is the Radiator Cap Pressure for Isuzu Rodeo 1996 2.6-4cyl

Cap pressure is best determined by going to the auto parts store and buying a new one. You can ask the counter guys to look it up online before actually buying.
Most radiators today run 15 PSI, but the cap is just a safety valve, and has nothing to do with controlling the actual pressure. The thermostat does that, and if your having boil over problems, then you need to be looking to other causes (plugged radiator, bad water pump, etc.).
