Hi mine has done the same the engine does not free wheel so you will have valve damage and will need to remove cyl head to rectify but your cyl head should be ok the repair is a simple operation and easy to do just be careful resetting timing you can get valves for approx£5 each reckon you will need at least two and headsets for approx £ 27.00 all aavible from ces motor factors dont forget to get head skimmed and get the people who skim it for you to fit the new valves

Hi, if the belt is already gone the best way to check is installing the belt perfectly with the timing marks in the right position and run a compression text,if dont try the text without the belt or you may cause major damage do to valves open out of time C1

I would suggest you contact an authorized daewoo dealer or service center and ask the service department this question. As you are probably aware some engines are free wheeling (valves will not contact pistons regardless of cam/crank relation) and some are not.

The timing marks for a 1999 daewoo leganza

Both cams have a notch in their edges, those go straight up parallel with each other pointing at the marks on the valve cover. Crankshaft pulley also has a mark that lines up with a mark on the timing belt rear cover.

Waterpump on a daewoo leganza is with the timing belt. How to take off belt and marking it to replace belt

Every engine has timing marks on the engine ie bottom pully/timing gears and camshafts on the casing (wipe or wash down and you will find then..
But the crankshaft TDCis when the woodrough key is at 100% 12oclock, and the rest are marked but dont take the belt off untill all the marks are in line { you might have to turn it over 3 or 6 or 8 times to get them 100% in line ,,then take the belt off and away you go Water pump hasent got to be timed ..

Daewoo Leganza 2000 timing belt broke

Hi.
If the idler pulley, broke, with the car running, (I think is the most probable), There is no way to fix the car just replacing the timing belt and the idler pulley. This is an interference engine, that means if the timing belt or the idler pulley breaks, you need to replace the whole cylinder head, that's because the valves are bent. I just fix my daewoo, I tried first to just change the idler pulley and set up the time, but it did not work. I had to replace the whole head cylinder, timing belt and pulleys.

I got the information to set up the timing belt from a Library, The program is Mitchell on demand.

Thanks
