Without removing the dashboard the dealer said the actuator is only about $65. Labor is $500 plus! Is there a way to do it without removing the dashboard.

sounds like an IAC motor. that stands for idle air control motor. it adjusts throttle to keep at steady speed. could possibly be throttle positioning sensor though. pay attention to see if it does it worse while mashing breaks because if EGR is stopped up it can cause symptoms similar too.

SOURCE: battery removal 2000 cadillac deville

Its on passenger side under rear seat cushion. Get in back seat FACING rear seatback, grab under lip of bottom seat cushion, and pull straight up. Disconnect seat heater connector (if so equipped) on passenger side and remove seat bottom. Tada! There ya go! Oh... btw. Its a $150 battery due to the venting system designed into it to vent fumes through a tube to the outside world. Thanks Cadillac!!! :(

SOURCE: I have a 1998 caddilac deville no air will blow

check all your fuses first. if they are all good replace the blower motor resistor. this controls alll the speeds for the blower motor and also suplies the power to it

SOURCE: my 1998 caddilac deville low oil pressure light on...

the low oil pressure light can be a faulty oil pressure sensor. But mostly its the pump itself. open the oil pan and check if the net is chocked if not then replace the oil pump and do install the new o ring supplied with the pump. And try changing the oil on time and a good brand is important. (if the problem still exists then u need to replace the crank barring and the cam bushings..Just kidding).

SOURCE: how do you change a thermostat on a 1997 Caddilac

Check this diagram location...

zjlimited_664.gif

Fig. Thermostat installation - 4.6L Engine

4.6L Engine

  1. Drain the coolant to a level below the thermostat housing.
  2. On some vehicles, access is easier if the front-end beauty panel and the air cleaner are removed.
  3. Remove the 2 bolts securing the thermostat housing to the intake manifold.
  4. Remove the thermostat housing.
  5. Remove the thermostat and O-ring from the housing.
To install:
  1. Install the thermostat and new O-ring to the housing.
  2. Install the thermostat housing to the intake manifold. Tighten the thermostat housing bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  3. Refill the cooling system using a 50/50 mixture of water and ethylene glycol antifreeze.
  4. Install the air cleaner and beauty panel, if removed.
  5. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks. Allow the engine to come to normal operating temperature. Recheck for coolant leaks.
Hope this helps.

Most of A/C air is coming out of defrosting vent. Could there be a switch malfunct.

Do an internet search for "blend door repair" - - - the blend doors direct air thru the heater core and evaporator core along with the vents.

94 deville concours ac works sometimes then u here duct door close and digital climate temp numbers go to blank dashes and defrost comes on and is stuck wont turn off then digital numbers come back on

My first guess would be a wiring problem or the controller.
If anything goes wrong with the system, it will default to the defrost mode for safety.

99 caddilac deville, clicking noise under hood when heater goes on, coolant smell, and heat blowing thru defrost only

sounds like a bad vacuum diaphram, used to switch coolant flow and/or airflow direction. this is best repaired by an expert, but can be done at home, with the proper tools and a manual specific to your vehicle.

Ac blows out the defrost duct only started2 years agoafter a couple of miles it would switch to regularac ducts now only defrost is this a vacume line or is there a relay and where please

If the vacuum line becomes disconnected from the blend door actuator, then it will go to defrost by default so that the driver will not have to look through a foggy windshield in the event that the vacuum line accidentally becomes disconnected or becomes disconnected due to age of the rubber of the vacuum line.

Have to get to the blend door actuator to fix the problem if the vacuum line has become disconnected somehow.

Defroster problems

It is in the heater/AC ducts, you must remove the entire dash assembly to access it for repair, about 12 hour job.
