Question about 1996 Buick Park Avenue

1996 Buick Park Avenue automatic a/c blower doesn't work

The automatic climate control on my 96 Park Ave has a periodic problem. It will get hot or cold just fine, but will sometimes not turn the blower on. When it worked right, it would wait for the car to warm up before turning the blower on when heat was selected, so I'm thinking that it's a problem with whatever sensor/switch/etc runs that feature. It doesn't matter what setting I select or whether I turn the climate control completely off and back on. Also, if the blower is running it will usually not come back on after I turn the car off even for a brief stop such as at a store.

Thanks it worked!  That was my thought, to reset the computer, so I tried disconnecting the battery terminals but it didn't reset.  I'd never heard of holding the two terminals together but that did the trick.  Reset everything inside and the blower comes on no problems.  Good thing, too, because it's getting colder again.

I had the same type of problems with my 96 PA and went to the dealer with it to see what it would cost to repair. The machanic couldn't look at it for weeks but told me to disconnect the battery terminals and hold the two terminals together for thirty seconds. This dichanges all the capacitors in the car and allows the systems to reset. If you do this, don't have your keys in the car because sometimes the automatic door locks lock. Doing this fixed my heat problems immediately and that was two years ago with no problems since. No garantee but it worked for me and cost nothing to try. You will need to reset the clock and radio presets after you try this. Good luck, Paul

It's probably the control module , or as they call it heater an A/C programmer , Or the blower control module . You should take it an have it checked out , probably has a code stored in the control module !

1996 Park Ave, blower motor is intermittent... when it does work, the speed changes when I take a turn. It has Climate Control, so I think the control module is the culprit, but I can't find the darn...

Automatic climate control? The HVAC control module is the part with the buttons that control the heater in the dash.

The first thing I would do is access the blower motor. With key on and/or the engine running wiggle the connector at the blower motor. It you get the same symptom than replace the blower motor. I run into quite a few of these with this symptom.

I have a 96 buick park avenue that the ac doesn't work. No air comes out of the vents when I turn it on

If the blower is working, your door that controls hot/cold air may be stuck. If it is not, check your fuses. If it is the blend control, you can reach behind the glove box and manually try to open.

Heater fan won't shut off

It's not a fuse problem. The controller switch is not working and needs replaced.

1996 Buick Park Ave -Hot air on driver side -Cold air pass. side

Behind the glove box you will see the heater box. On top of the heater box you will see a set of wires going to a small controller box that has an arm on it. It is probably not working and you can only by them at the dealer. It is the dual climate controller and cost approx. $100.

1996 Buick Park Avenue - HVAC doesn't turn off even with key out

You need a blower control module ... located under the relays and fuses on the firewall.

They run about $150.
