When I crank my car my idol goes above 2 and then falls down below 1 and then it does a couple of times and then it dies sometimes. when I'm driving & stop and then go it sputter & idol does again

Try changing the tpi throttle positioning sensor found on the throttle body . Check air filter, clean air mass flow sensor.located sometimes in air box ,or after going in throttle body black hose, going in air box usually found in those two spots. If no change. Then I would check o2sensor start whith the cheapest first.
air box / hose going to motor look for a set of wires
unplug wires and pull out clean or replace. Spray whith brake cleaner starter fluid or similar.
Tpi throttle posistioning sensor.
last but least
o2sensor sensor.

How replace the throttle pot

Throttle posistion switch? ON what? On most it is located on throttle body on side opposite throttle cable. You may need a scan tool to set it to specs if it is adjustable. DEPENDS ON MODEL.
