I have a 2003 Z71 with a 5.3 litre, and the oil pressure gage is way past 80 and stays there even when i turn the truck off. I have no warning lights on and everything seems to be running fine. Is it my oil sending unit/

The oil pressure is always high when you start it,the oil is cold and creates a different reading.
a few things...to consider
oil pressure sender defective

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 and my Oil gauge went to 80 Can't figure out what it is I think its a sensor But I'm not sure

Your oil pressure sensor is not very expensive and is easy to change, I would start with that. If it does not cure your issue I would suggest hooking in a mechanical gauge to verify actual pressure and if it is not 80 psi I would look at changing out the factory gauge.

Ticking noise from engine upon start up but eventually goes away oil pressure gauge doesn't move at all when started or shut off. Gauge stays all the way past 80! Help me please!

Since changing the oil sender made no change, dash gauge may be dead. Hook up cheap mechanical gauge to see what is really going on. Ticking when first started is probably a lifter and may not be a big problem. How many miles on engine?

When i start my 2008 hybrid tahoe the oil pressure starts off at 60 on the gauge but slowly losing pressure while i drive and goes below 20 on the gauge is my pummp going or something else thanks

Tough to say. You would want to use a mechanical gauge to make sure your stock gauge is correct. If oil pressure is low, it could be the pump or worn bearings.

Oil pressure gauge goes to 80 and stays

Another gauge needs to be connected to the car to check that oil pressure sensor or the gauge itself is not the problem.

If an independent gauge shows the same readings I would suspect a sticking oil pressure relief valve.

I have a 2003 gmc sierra 5.3 liter vortec why does my truck leak oil only under pressure

because your oil pressure rises to around 40psi when running and will leak at the weakest place, check your oil sending unit first and seals.

Oil pressure gauge reads 80 yesterday it ran normal

The higher the oil pressure the better it is, if you had a recent oil change the oil pressure should be high. there is no problem with having high oil pressure.

Oil pressure gauge at 80

your oil sending unit is bad, replace the sending unit and should fix it, the unit shorts out and maxes out the gauge, hope to help you,

Oil pressure gauge reads 80 while running

could be one of two things, oil pressure switch (located on top of engine behind intake) or instrument panel cluster, if your vehicle has under 70,000 miles, it's covered under warrenty

Oil pressure gauge reads 80 psi with engine off and pegs running

That is probably a defective oil pressure gauge or a broken oil pressure sender, it reads 80 psi just because that is the maximum value allowed.

Pressure can be verified by reading it with a gauge tool.
If you really have pressure over 70 psi when engine is running then start replacing the oil filter, and check that the oil lines from pump are not obstructed, if there is nothing in there then replace oil pump.

If instead the gauge reads 80 with engine off, that is a defective pressure gauge.
