Your Avalanche may have a separate amplifier that has an open fuse or is not connected to your head unit.

Dont know the code to the audio system

with the vin number can call the dealer for the codes or in your service manual sometimes people mark it in the book or a plastic card that comes with the truck when new or even try a radio shop that installs radios sometimes they know you can always try 1111and del to try it but thats for older models

Alfa Romeo 166 ICS Radio AUDIO mode is inoperative. As I switch the radio button to the "ON" position by pressing the switch, I get all the tuninig of CD/Casette/FM/AM radio frequencies, but non fo them...

The audio board is at fault. Take the unit in for repairs at any car dealership. They can send it out for repairs to any center that repairs radios for cars

Replaced battery and navigationn propt me to put a code. inputed the code and it shut off.

If you replaced your battery, you probably lost your audio system code as well. You should put that in first or your navigation system voice will not work. I assume you have the code for your audio system.
After you get your audio system working then you should be able to put the code in for you navigation system as follows:
Enter the four-digit navigation system security code, then select Done. If you have entered it correctly, the display changes to the Disclaimer screen. You have ten chances to enter the correct code. If all ten are incorrect, turn the ignition to OFF, then back to ON (II) to have ten more chances to enter the correct code (I would try this is your unit has turned off and doesn't come back on).
If you have other questions on this, leave a comment and I will investigate further.
Hope this helps you.

Am i putting code in radio right

Are you sure it is a Nissan audio system. Nissan does not use codes in their radios. You must have an aftermarket radio.

I have a 1997 Lincoln Continental.

It sounds like the ground cable to either the radio, the antenna, or one of the speakers is lose. If anything in the sound/audio system is not grounded properly, you get will interference from the ignition system.

Looking for an audio system

Your stereo mounts above the center vents right? I don't see why any JVC, Pioneer etc won't fit. Any good audio shop could put a unit in it for you.
