I am not a transmission expert but i would ck the kickdown cable on throttlebody. if disconnected or out of adjustment, it can do internal trans damage. seen it happen on several lincoln town cars around that year. if you suspect something wrong there, call a local tranny shop for quick advice, i'm sure he will know what youre talking about

Water in intake...not much

sounds like a head gasket is leaking, or worse, one of the water channels is cracked in the head.

a teardown is your best bet... sorry for the bad luck

Oil leaking from crack in houseing attached to back end of gearbo

If you can see the crack plainly, you will need to have a transmission shop fix it for you or your isuzu dealer, good luck.
but it may have just the rear seal on the transmission started leaking, and where the castings come together, looks like a crack, and just replace the seal.
good luck;)

Sounds like the ICM is going bad.(Unless for some weird reason you have points)It is locate inside the distributor.

I had the same problem on my firebird after it was parked for 3 months, the heat grease just broke down and allowed it to over heat.

You should also check the fuel screen on the fuel inlet.

Please rate this a fixya

Wont shift

check to make sure you did not knock off any vacuum lines and also make sure the transmission fluid is not low and if it smells cooked replace the fluid and the filter because the screen in the filter could be plugged and it is not getting fluid to the torque converter but check the fluid first

Transmission problems

they should have suggested changing tranny screen and filter if tranny isnt maintained every 20,000to 30,000 you end up with gray like particles from normal wear wich get caught in the screen and valve body wich leads to erractic shifting valve body problems eventually tranny replacement number 1 rule oil changes on motor and screen and filter on tranny prevents premature wear longer life to two major key factors

Smoke from back of engine after it is shut off

Well This has happened to me also. When I looked there was no oil anywhere but when I removed the head gasket, I took it appart and there was a very tiny crack which leaked oil directly onto my Manifold. So once my car got hot the tiny crack let out a few drops which smoked after the manifold gets really hot. As for yours I am not sure but i suspect its that. As for a fix I dont know one. I put my motor back together and ran it for a long long time (Trusty Volkswagen)
