check for power to the sender unit first ,then go from their by earthing the wire on the sender unit and seeing if the gauge moves to full if it does then its its a faulty sender unit if it doesnt move then its a faulty gauge
touch the lead that connected to the sender to the ground to see if the gauge move. if the gauge move, then the problem is in the sender. if the gauge does not move then the problem is in the gauge or the wiring
yes the sending unit is defective, to replace it remove the back seat cushion, under it u will find a sheet metal plate, remove this plate and u will find the access plate on the top of the fuel tank, undo the retaining ring with a brass drift or wood mallet (don't use anything with iron or steel u may cause a fire), remove the sending unit/fuel pump module and reverse to reinstall. Be careful to not break the fuel module connector on the top of tank, also make sure you have less than 1/2 tank of gas or it will spill all over when u remove the sender.
