One year ago, my husband and I got in the car to head to work and we had this same problem. We got the truck towed to the dealership and they replaced the ignition cylinder. Now a year and 10 days later the same thing has happened and they say that we have to pay $400 to do the same thing. How does such a significant part go bad in a year's time?

Try tapping the lock cylinder with a small hammer...some times this will jar the tumblers and allow it to turn...if this works the lock cylinder is going bad and will need replaced

SOURCE: my key will not turn,

your key is probably worn down and needs replaced, but you can try spraying a penetrating oil (WD40 or PB Blaster) into the lock cylinder this sometimes works

Ignition key will not turn in my 2006 durango

You might have a worn out key and/or ignition lock cylinder. OR, you might have the steering column locked. Try turning the wheel hard to the left while turning the key, and then turning the wheel hard to the right and turn the key. Best of luck!

Key won't turn and can't get it out of park

Your steering wheel is locked. What you need to do is have someone strong turn the steering wheel hard one direction as you try to turn the key. If it will not unlock that way have them turn it the other direction as you turn the key. Happens to me all the time.

Durango steering column locked...how can I fix

Try turning the wheel slightly and turning the key, this will relieve pressure off the steering lock mechanism. If that doesn't work, try tapping the key. That is a common problem on 99-05 Caravans

My 2006 dodge durango won't start. The ignition is locked

Start with wiggling the key and steering wheel. If that doesn't help try pushing up/forward on your shifter to ensure park is fully engaged

My ignition key wont turn how can i solve this problem

Your ignition lock could be binding on the steering wheel lock. Try moving your steering wheel back and forth while trying to move key. Good Luck!
