ABS light is on but scan tool does not pick up an error code

Is it a code reader or a scan tool ,there is a difference ! An some will just read OBD codes from engine control module . You need to take it to someone who's scan tool can check all modules on the vehicle . Then again in some situations the factory scan tool will only work ! RAV 4 2004 cruise control not working- checked fuses & brake & clutch switch operation- ok

my guess, NO SCAN TOOL?

you can't fix car with out, a (drum roll) SCAN TOOL

the modern car also cuts cruise for many reasons.

(death) reason and #2, billion dollar class action suits. (read news?)

so they now cut the cruise for lots of engine failures and trans.

no scanning the PCM now, you lose.

2004 RAV 4 no engine stated.

if it has TBW (throttle by wire ) that too, cuts CRUISE big time if iffy

yes,DTCs for TBW or limphome of any kind !!!

what engine, we cant fix engine issues, with out that.

only about 10% here post that. so most answer are wrong.

imagine with body shells missing , see that < what is it,its a drive train. what is yours? engine and trans. what?

causes?

Check engine light on runnning

Scan tool shows, DTC errors. BINGO.

scan tool show stuck on limphome?

Throttle or idle errors of any kind?

there is no cruise module on ours USA>

The PCM mimics that in pure software (fact)

so if the PCM is unhappy, it does in fact cut cruise.

no scan tool makes all this IMPOSSIBLE on all newer cars !!!!

see PCM see throttle motor, bingo its cruise TOO.

2008 Jeep Liberty error code gate on dash and interior light will not turn off got new battery and still doing it

can i buy a comma? says vanna white?? LOL !
ok, the battery drains, so you got a DRAIN, called phantom drain.
or dark current.!!
we use a thing called an AMMETER (DMM) to find all drains, easy

do you have one, want to learn or just wanting wild guessing.

on any 08 liberty, we check the scan tool data.
oops it shows battery low, wow even the PCM sees that.

new batteries do not fix drain.
nor dead alternators.

get it serviced, by a pro. ?

1: charge battery (rested its 12.6vdc )
2: start engine, scan tool shows, what DTC errors (post em')
3: battery voltage is , 13.3, to 15vdc running, if not charge system is faulting.
4: ok all that is ok, i then key off and measure bettery cable neg lug drain current, if 0.010a to 0.040a its ok, if over 0.1 amps its a drain.
we then find the drain cause, ASK? its not hard with a meter.
but i bet all you wanted is a wild guess.

Changed 02 sensor and all codes are clear but check engine light is still on in my 99 acura cl

press the clear DTC button on the scan tool.
bam, gone.
or you are using a cheap scan tools that does not
all factory codes, and one is set.!
keep in mind, the CEL dont glow for all DTCs
and many scan tools are blind to some or all factory codes
P1xxx and P2xxx are both factory only codes, only
Acura codes,
rule 3> if the scan tool does show say P1xxx code
do not use non Acura data on that code, as its a Acura only code
only P0xxx codes are a standard here, in USA>

in some countries, even P0300 code (gross misfire) in Canada
do NOt glow the CEL, but does store the code
amazing huh?

Tighten gas cap message and then check engine light on 2008 suzuki xl7

there is a DTC error stored, in the ECU. (scan tools show this)
there is a car puter, error, message that really means
the gas tank is not holding air pressure.."EVAP sys"
and 99% of the time, that is "a loose gas cap"
it can take many driving cycle to clear this code.
or 1second with any scan tool, even a $30 tool.

Check engine light is On,This is indication that there is error code stored in your cars computer. To know what error code is stored in the cars computer. The computer has to be scanned with scan tool. This can be done either at Honda dealer ship or at local auto parts store who has this car error code scanning tool.Once the error code is scanned. It will point out towards the fault.

A fault like that should trigger some codes. It also depends on the kind of tool used. Y not try a different scan tool if u used a smaller one earlier. U could try the tool called Launch box. Ur check engine light showed be on by now, if not then someone might have tampered with it. Might even be your TPS (throttle position sensor) acting up. No guesses at this point. Try to get some codes.

Code 1529keep coming up no drveable problems

If the code you are mentioning is p1529 then it is generated by Transmission control module(TCM) to the trigger the check engine light . You have to check the code of your OBD port by using an scan tool that would give you the exact error codes from which the faulty part can be identified.

Check engine light will be triggered in case of any fault in any part in the car.Even a loose gas cap will trigger the check engine light. So having it scanned with an code reader connected to OBD port will help you to identify the exact fault.

My check engine light is on even after replacing the gas cap. I have replaced the battery and tried most tricks .

What is the code? Most auto parts stores will read the code for free. My guess is this is a Faulty O2 Sensor causing the problem. The code that will appear when scanned will tell you.

My 2000 Isuzu Rodeo also shows chech engine sometimes.

Most onboard computers store error codes so even if the light is not on a scan should show what error is causing the light.
Get it scanned and take it from there , It's the best option and it will give you piece of mind.
Some car part stores Scan for free or a small very charge.
Hope this helps
