Question about 2002 Jeep Liberty

Dashboard light won't go off

There's a light on the dashboard that won't leave. It appears to be alternator or coolant. It's on the upper right corner. The Jeep starts fine and is not overheating. Does anyone know what this could be?

Get a scan code for it. free at AutoZone and other parts stores. It could be the Temperature coolant sensor that's about to go. It will stop the fans from turning if it does.this can lead to overheating and damage to your car.Replace if nessesary.

Battery warning light on dashboard stays on when vehicle started. Appears to start o.k. and everything is working.

your alternator may have failed. The car may run on battery power for a while but could leave you stranded. If you have a voltmeter, check voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should be at least 14 volts. If not, or you don't have a voltmeter, remove the alternator and take it to the parts store for testing. Let me know if you need instructions for removing the alternator.
