Depends on which v8 you have....the 4.7 the routing is as follows it goes under the waterpump pully over the alternator down and around the power steering pumpto the crank...it goes under the bottom of the crank to the idler pully.the flat side of the belt goes ver the idler then around the automatic tensioner to the ac compressor.
on the 5.2 and 5.9 it routes starting at the idler pully the flat side goes undr the idler the up to the ac compressor around the compressor and down to the power steering pump ... around power stering pump to waterpump where the flat side is against waterpump pully around water pump down and around crank up it automatic tensioner....around tensioner and up and over alternator

By run - do you mean it dies when you put it in gear? Or that it just bogs down when you attempt to accelerate or drive away?
..
A plugged Catalytic converter will cause this. So will a Bad MAP or MAS (Mas Air ) sensor. So will a bad TPS (Throttle Position) sensor.

Need more input to answer more precisely.

HOW DO YOU PUT A SURPERTINE BELT ON A 2008 DODGE AVENGER

Surpentine belts have a automatic belt tensioner. You can identify it easily. It will have a wheel attached to an arm which goes to and is mounted to the front of the engine. This automatic tensioner moves. Look on the front portion of the wheel connection to the arm. Is there a square 1/2-inch cavity? A 1/2-inch ratchet or breaker bar or surpentine belt remover bar can be inserted. Pull or Push this rotating it Up or Down (DON'T FORCE IT) Move it only inthe Direction it will move.
The Belt Diagram should be located on the underside of the hood or on the covering near the radiator.
