Question about 2006 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

2006 Ford Explorer

Engine Light and Traction Light will not go off even after having vehicle serviced and put on diagnostic machine. Also, the thermostat continues to read "C" for cold even after driving for many miles. I woke one morning and turned on the SUV and these lights came on. By the way, the truck runs fine with no problems indicated, except for the Lights. Do I have a serious problem? Thanks!

The 1st thing you do is have the system tested for the trouble codes that are turning the lights on, I doubt the 2 are related from past experience. Kragen auto and others do this test for free, post the codes back here and I will help you get this fixed

Engine service light is on and so is traction control light is on. Push traction control button but no change. I have disconnected the battery trying to reboot but no change.

You have an OBD (on-board-diagnostic)
system malfunction

Doesn't matter what light you get on the
dash, of any vehicle.

You need it dignosed and repaired

I have a wrench with a car swerving light up every once in awhile but I have no idea what it means and I have no idea what stabilitrak is

{: ) A car swerving light on the instrument cluster is the StabiTrak indicator, sometimes called the traction control indicator. A wrench beside it tells it requires servicing.

Your vehicle is equipped with StabiliTrak, which combines antilock brake, traction and stability control systems and helps the driver maintain directional control of the vehicle in most driving conditions.
Traction control activates when the controller senses wheel spin. StabiliTrak will selectively apply the brakes and reduce engine torque to help regain traction.
Stability control activates when the controller senses a discrepancy between your intended path and the direction the vehicle is travelling. StabiliTrak selectively applies braking pressure at any one of the vehicle's brakes to help guide the vehicle in the direction which you are steering.
When you first start your vehicle and begin to drive away, the system performs several diagnostic checks to insure there are no problems. You may hear or feel the system working. This is normal and does not mean there is a problem with your vehicle. If driving conditions delay system initialization, the STABILITRAK NOT READY message may be displayed. If this is the case, your vehicle does not need servicing.
When the StabiliTrak system is both on and actively controlling the stability of the vehicle, the StabiliTrak light will blink for the duration of the event.
You may also feel or hear the system working. This is normal.
StabiliTrak will turn off automatically if a problem is detected in the system. The StabiliTrak light will come on and SERVICE STABILITRAK will be displayed on the DIC. For vehicles without a DIC, the StabiliTrak light and the StabiliTrak service light will both come on. If the SERVICE STABILITRAK message (or StabiliTrak service light) does not clear itself after restarting the vehicle, you should see your dealer for service.

Engine service soon light ford explorer 2004

You need to narrow down the problem first because the light can mean countless things. If you go to most auto parts stores they will either do a diagnostic on your car or they loan you the machine that you can use right there. Run the test on your vehicle and find out the codes. If they don't tell you what the code or codes mean then come back on here and I or somebody else can help you figure it out. Hope that was helpful.

Car shakes whilst idling and has a deep sound like a subaru

Hi there,

Your vehicle is fitted with an On Board Diagnostic computer, which monitors all engine activity & transmission behaviour.

The symptom you describe could be related to a number of possible faults - anything from simple vaccuum leak, ignition problem or even internal engine issues.

Have your vehicle's Diagnostic computer read for fault codes, which will identify where the malfunction lies.

Cheers,

2004 ls v8 has engine light on abs light on advance trac light on fuel computer data error, engine sensor error, traction control data error, etc engine fail safe mode, and check transmision light was not...

I own the same vehicle and have all the manuals. Give me all the codes the dealer got and all they did since new, in detail. Stop with the dealer. You go to a dealer for 2 reasons only. To buy the vehicle and warrantee work ONLY,unless you have deep pockets.
