Question about 1998 Ford Ranger SuperCab

My 1998 ford ranger 2x2 has shown to accelerate upon braking

I recently got into a wreck when my ranger crashed into a steel post while backing up. I was twelve feet away from a dock when I applied the brake while backing, and the truck accelerated. It has happened a number of times recently while I was braking while going forward. It does not have cruise control. I can't find any recall information on my truck. What could you suggest. This is a potentially dangerous situation.

This sounds like your rear brakes are out of adjustment and the brake peddle has too much travel. On a sudden fast stop both the brake an gas peddle get stepped on. Had this prob with a car last week. Frankster016

If the brakes work but you have to push very hard, try checking the vacuum supply to the brake booster with the engine running.

Recently bought a 89 ford ranger pickup 2wd. My emergency brake doesnt work

Given the vehicles age, I would say you will have to replace
the back parking cables, from the drums out, if they are even avail

Back brakes will have to come apart & be serviced also, to have parking brakes work

Rubbing/grinding noise

Usually the strut bearing will make this noise upon turning a corner and hitting a rut or pot hole when turning. A wheel bearing will make a low pitched whinning sound constantly
