What does this mean and Coolant Thermostat

Along with all my mph and rpm is all going crazy what does this all mean

    My SES light is on as well with the same codes coming up, I have no idea what is going on besides the fact that the mechanic told me that Trailblazers are notorious for air pump issues.

P0410 secondary air injection system malfunction. I've dealt with this problem myself. It's either the air pump which is located under the driver's side door on the frame, or it's the valve on the engine that is sticking.
The air pumps are notorious for "freezing up" in cold climates due to water sitting in the pump and freezing and then breaking the impeller from the shaft in the pump. This is what happened with mine.
Remove your pump and test it. If it spins and blows air,then it's fine. Then check your valve on the engine. If that opens (which they like to get corroded with exhaust gasses and stick) Then that will be ok. If not, you'll have a pretty good idea what is going on.
I wnt ahead and replaced both the pump and valve, which were both crappy.
GM also has a check valve that you can install to prevent water from entering the pump. I just drilled a small hole in the bottom of mine to "drain" the water.

2005 chevy trailblazer mechanic tells me I need secondary air pump and valve will cost me just for part 475.00 and this is before labor. He said I could still drive it but gas mileage will be bad. This is prety expensive for ne right now. I am a nurse and do home visits don't want to break down

    blower resistor needs to be replaced. Just replaced one myself on my 2004 Trailblazer. Got part from O'Reilly for $27.99 and it took about 10 minutes to replace. Take out the glove box and the lower panel beneath glove box to access.

    2004 Chev Trailblazer - Code P0410 Secondary air injection pump does not have pressure. This is the second pump gone bad in less than 20,000 miles. They tell me that water gets in it and freezes, thus wrecking the pump. Cost for repair - $500. $323 for the pump. The pump is located under the drivers side door. Easy to get at. (Thanks to the post above, I was able to locate it and I also drilled a hole to drain water out of it.) I had nothing to lose so I removed the pump. The pump itself is two halves of plastic glued together. I used a screwdriver and a rubber hammer to seperate the two halves. Sure enough my moter worked fine but the blades for the fan were loose on the motor shaft. I painted the motor shaft with JB Weld, to make it thicker. After the shaft was dry I reassembled the pump. The fan blades fix nice and snug. I drilled small holes and used screws to reassemble the two halves of the pump together. The pump works fine, and I have plenty of pressure. My cost was a few hours of my time, plus the cost of JB Weld.

P0410 code

Secondary air injection system malfunction...Check your vacuum lines, and your air pump. Have you recently filled the gas tank in the car? I mean filled it like you keep topping it until the gas handle clicks and you try to squeeze more into the tanks??? If yes then you probably overfilled it and now the raw gas has gotten into the Charcoal evap canister and screwed the system up.

I have a 05 chevy trailblazer, the check engine lite is on and a hand held analyzer indicated problem codes: PO410 $ PO128 any ideas? Wayne C


Secondary Air Injection System fault
The air injection system is monitored for faults
Probable Causes
1) Circuit relay defective or fuse open
2) Check connector and wiring
3) AIR pump defective or hoses blocked

Fault Code Definition
  • Engine temperature has not increased and/or reached the correct level within a specified amount of time after engine startup
Common Problems That Trigger the P0128 Code
As for the po128 I would replace the thermostat first. That is the problem 99% of the time.

P0128 is coolant operating temperature operating too low. This can be contributed to the Thermostat stuck open or faulty electronic radiator fan clutch. This is common, I had the same issue and replaced the thermostat and fan clutch and had the clutch re-programmed (required) at the dealer. As for the P0410, check the air pump fuse, if blown it will set this code on. Also check the air pump hoses for water and cracks. Hopefully this helps!!

Check engine light on, diagnostic code 0128 and 0410 keep coming up

P0128 - Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature)

P0410 - Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction
(has to do with exhaust system)

Note: There is a technical service bulletin (TSB) regarding code P0410 for a number of GM models. The TSB calls for the replacement of the AIR pump and the installation of a new secondary injection hose.

most ecu controlled vehicles have a 'limp home'mode if 2 or more fault codes are stored,it is designed to get your attention before damage is caused and to get you to the nearest to fix,i would have codes cleared and retest vehicle,it is the cheapest and 1st option for any shop,some late models even have excessive mileage past service interval in the 'limp' program

My 2005 chevy trail blazer has code p0410 and i dont know what needs to be replaced provide that i know that it means secondary air injection system but i need to know the part that needs replacement

check the air pump on your trailblazer, make sure its clean inside and the hoses are properly fastened. also check to make sure it works properly by listening for it when you start the vehicle. if the air pump is working correctly, replace the position 1 o2 sensor meaning the sensor on the exhaust manifold. the air pump is located under the vehicle, inside the frame rail on the drivers side in front of the transfer case crossmember with 2 hoses connected to it.
