Question about 2003 Nissan Xterra

2003 Xterra radio power dead

A couple of months after I installed a new radio into my Xterra the radio stopped working. I found that the power to the radio was dead, this is the one supplied when you turn on the key. I check the fuses and they seem okay. I'm guessing there may be a relay out.

All I know is that it is the green/red wire and it no longer supplies any voltage, but the constant power for the clock does work.

I actually got an Xterra manual and traced it out. Strangely, it said that fuse 18 went to the radio. But on the fuse box under the steering wheel fuse 18 says it is for the mirrors.

Well, sure enough, fuse 18 10amp was blown and when I replaced it, the radio started working! Not sure if there was a recall on the Xterra fuse box label sticker, but there needs to be.

My son just found a fuse when he pulled out the radio, in the back of the radio. It was a 10 amp. Hope that helps.

Trace the wire back to the fuse box with a lighted 12V tester and if the fuse appears to be good, check the hot side of the fuse and go from their. You might have to find another hot point (key activated) to wire the stereo into with an inline fuse.

Where is the stereo fuse for 2003 NIssan Xterra located. WE just installed a new battery and now the stereo won't go on. THanks.

In the fuse and fusible link box, check 15A FUSE 41. If your Xterra has a separate power amplifier, also check 20A FUSE 33. In addition, check 10A FUSE 18 in the fuse block.

It appears the radio "on/off" switch in my 2003 Cadillac DeVille is shot. One day it was working and the next day it stopped working. The time light is on and I saw the radio station indicatorl briefly...

I'm sure only the switch can be replaced, I suggest you look in your local Yellow Pages under Automobile stereos, and look for a repair shop that specializes in repairing OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) GM radios. They will be able to assist you in repairing your radio to "new" working condition.

I own a 2000 VW Jetta. Radio completely Dead

Have you checked the radio fuse? You may have blown the fuse when you jumped the car. The fuse box should be out under the hood encased in black plastic.

New battery and Xterra still won't start

There are a couple of immediate possibilities that come to mind. First - you could have fried the ECU/ECM (not sure what it's referred to by the NizMO folks) when you tried to jump the battery.
Second - the ECM/ECU needs to be reset when a new battery is installed.

When you attempt to start it, do you get anything at all? Any clicking, whirring, buzzing?
