Question about 1999 Daewoo Leganza

1 Answer

Draining Battery Something is draining my brand new battery, I had the alternator checked and that is not the problem. I was told there is a black wire hanging loose al by itself and i'm not sure what that is could that be the reason the car will not stay charged up? A few months ago I had someone replace my water pump and when he did he messed everything up from there. the acr has not ran right since then. My 99 Daewoo Leganza is almost doing the same thing.Out of the blue, after many years of no problems it would not stay started, so I took it to a reputable shop. They changed the altenator and it hasn't worked right since. Then I took it to a diagnostic center. They tested everything and could not find what the problem was. Since then I have had 4 new batteries. I just recently changed the posts on the battery. I do not know where to go next. Any solutions?

egoboss187, I will have the starter checked. I hope that will do it. And I will try to find out more info about this supposed black wire hanging on the 99 daewoo. I have no knowledge of this wire. Please advise me of where it might be located.

I suspect either a bad voltage regulator (should show up on the alternator test) or something is draining the battery when off. Draining a battery below 12V can cause un-repairable damage to a battery although if only a few weeks old you might try to recondition it with a reconditioning charger.

Something is drawing power from the battery and draining it. All of a sudden the car will just die. What could be causing this, and is it a common problem?

alternator is prob. bad. an easy way to check it is to start the car and while its running disconect the negative battery terminal if the car dies right away its not charging at all. if it stays running then turn on the headlights ot it dies then is a weak alternator. sounds like it was going bad when you bought the new battery and didnt need a new battery. you take it it any autozone and they test the alternator in the store to what its output is.

My audi won't start up so I found out the battery was bad and I just put a brand new battery in it and it ran for 3 days and now its doing the same thing again what else could it be?

check that the alternator is able to charge. if the alternator cannot charge the battery, it will go dead. if the alternator is okay, google ´¨finding parasitic battery drains¨. it may be that something is draining the battery even when the key is off.

sometimes your alternator works when it wants to its a sign of it starting to go bad how often does your battery go dead how long does it take before car will not start up make sure battery terminals are clean and tight have it tested again there is no way to reset battery do you have a light in your trunk who told you something was staying on killing your battery

My battery keeps draining down at night it's a 99 dodge durango

you have something draining the battery, check for any lights that might be staying on,interior light, stop light under the hood light(if any),glove box light trunk light, if you have a multimeter with amp testing capability or an amp meter you can check where the drain is by removing each fuse & put the probes on each side the terminals until you find a drainage, that way you might be able to find out what is draining the power & rectify it......hope this helps......cheers

Battery drains overnight. Oldsmobile Aurora 2001 Have checked all fuses and relays. Keep being told I have a bad battery but this is not what Sears tell me. They replaced one battery although they did not...

Check the body control module located on the drivers side above the brake pedal. It is a black box very easy to change. You can find them online from 60 to 100 dollars.

Conversely it could also be the multifunction switch. This is a little black box near the end of your turn signal level underneath the steering wheel cover. It can cause a ticking noise to be randomly heard and cause your parking lights to flicker or stay on, draining your battery. The switch can cost $800 dollars to replace. However, the unit can be cleaned and repaired with contact cleaner and compressed air.

1991 ford festiva replaced alternator new

it is part of the alternator actually on a lucas unit, a small black box bolted to the rear of the alternator.

You may have a faulty ignition switch or a corroded engine earth cable causing the alternator not to reach charging voltage.
