Question about 2003 Volkswagen New Beetle Convertible
1. Rear driver's side window wouldn't go up. We purchased the replacement parts, and it was basically the cable that had fallen off.
2. That window works now, BUT the convertible top will not go up electronically.
3. The convertible light flashes (know this means a malfunction), but you do not hear anything even attempting to move, including the wings. (Wings have been gone for awhile but you always at least heard the mechanism try to move them.)
Any thoughts on what we can do?

We bought the rear window regulator repair kit. Searched the internet for directions for removal. took it out did the repair. But forgot to hook up a small cable from the slideing door just next to the flip door. Guess what. When the top came up it broke and I am sick about it. My problem has been solved. I contacted the VW Customer Service and spoke with an advocate. The advocate and my dealership reached a conclusion and VW has decided to replace the items to alleviate my problem at their cost. Sometimes, dreams come true. Good luck to all of you who have similar problems with your VW Beetle convertible. It took quite a lot of patience and determination on my part, but the VW advocate was sympathetic to my plight since I'd never taken the vehicle anywhere else but the dealership for all repairs. The repairs have not been completed yet, so I cannot say whether or not the dilemma is, indeed, solved.
