The metal fuel line on top of my 89 Ranger fuel tank rusted out. What a pain. For all the trouble of dropping the tank and wrestling with the fuel assembly, definately put in new stuff, don't try to fix anything with jb weld like I did. It's a shame the body bolts are such a bear, or I'd say to try to remove the bed for a good look-see. After all was said and done, I cut a trouble door in my bed so I could replace the filler hose if I ever get one. Just don't do any cutting while the fuel tank is there, even with a saw or grinder, they all spark!

no vaccum/ preasure control depending were fuel is coming from, i would suspect the switch or pump, not really the valve, good luck.

Get the repair manual from Advanced Auto for that year and it should have it in there. Its about 25 dollars for the repair manual.

Just a thought. You may have system failure that's why the dual tank fails. As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector, let it sit for atleast 10mins. or more before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get your vehicle back to it's normal operation.

1988 Ford Ranger XLT 4X4. Newly purchased dual fuel tank has an internal fuel pump, an inline pump, a fuel tank selector unit, and what looks like a second fuel tank selector unit (which is leaking).

Wiring diagram for fuel system on 1990 F150 with dual fuel tanks

I hope somebody did not butcher your harness.. the age of your truck is going to warrant replacement of the fuel filter and the tank switching valve. they should be located on the left side frame rail. make sure the fuel lines are marked for correct replacement on the new valve as well as the filter. also the arrow on the filter must be in correct fuel flow direction. Also you will be money and time ahead by replacing the fuel pump, it is old and they don't handle water in the fuel very well (Methonol)

Bought a used 1983 southwinds motorhome but no batteries. does someone have a wiring diagram for the batteries

no diagrams but the reason for duel 6 volt batteries is for proper distribution of power you can put duel 12 volt in it and it will seem to run fine but over time fueses will get weak and start to pop as well as relays. i hope this information helps. J&D services

I have a 1983 chevy dually with dual tanks. the gauge reads way past full all the time. i already replaced the switch. is the problem the valve or somthing in the wiring harness?

i believe this vehichle reads exteme full if the tank sender wire is disconnected,or if the wire for the gas gauge is broken,or there is corossion in the harness connectors.

1982 chevy truck with dual gas tanks with guage or tank problems

all you need to do is listen to hear the tank switching valve is working. It will make a soft noise under the rear cab section with the key on with the engine off. zif you do hear it sounding the switch your tank unit for that one tank you try to switch to is a fault. Sorry no illustrated diagrams are on hand, just knowledge

1992 f 159 dual tanks fuel guage not working

You will need to remove the wire for the sending unit on the tank and ground it to the frame with your selector switched to the tank you are working on and the key on. If gauge comes up to full then the sending unit is bad and gauge is good. Repeat process on other tank. The fuel tank switching valve on the frame also switches the wiring signal from either tank for the gauge. If no change with first test you will want to check the valve.

Looking for a fuel system diagram for a 1983 6.2 diesel where can I find one

fuel flow is from tank to seperator filter then to supply pump on block now under presure to the secondary filter on the engine in the valley from there to the injection pump fuel not injected leaves the injector pump through the check valve at the top front of the pump entering the return lines withe the lines from all the returns on the injectors back to the tank. Yes the primary filter is on the **** side and should not be opened while running or cranking. hope this helps. Jim
