Question about Mitsubishi Lancer

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer and right now the brakes seem "stuck". I used the emergency brake 2 days ago and yesterday on the way back from somewhere the brakes started to "stick". You can hear the grinding when you put it into gear and try to drive. Could this be from the e-brake or something more?

It doesn't sound like it is coming from the back and the car was fine for driving that evening and part of the next day. How can I see if the ebrake is the problem? Where would I look?

Hello .if you used the e brake when running the vehicle it could be that the brake bands broke off and thats the grinding noise ,or that the e brake internals like springs and adjusters are loose inside and thats the fhquot,: this is if the noise is coming from the rear tires . good luck

Changing the ATF will not make it impossible to use the shift lever. You should first check that the brake lamps are working, if not then check the fuse. The shift gate lock is actuated by a switch connected to the brake lamps system. Hope that helps

your emergency brake cables or at least one is frozen up or the brake shoes are frozen to the drum try removing the stuck tire and pour boiling water on the brake drum this should free up the shoes, the light is on because of the lever is not all the way down until cable goes back to normal.

2002 lancer the brake lights don't work

Check the fuse, if the turn signals are working in the back, the bulbs are ok. If the fuse is good, check the brake switch, it's under dash, near the top of the brake pedal. Either the button is stuck and not popping out when the brake pedal is pressed, or the switch is bad.
