Question about 2003 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

After shutting off the engine, something whines loudly.

The noise is louder inside the car, and seems to be coming from behind the firewall, which leads me to think the blower fan is stuck, or something with the A/C system. The noise seems to be coming from the passenger side.

The problem doesn't stop when the car is shut off.

Yup, sure sounds like blower may be the problem but not very often does it run on after vehicle is shut off completely, and the blower motor is normally on passenger side. What type of vehicle is it?

Perhaps a little debris in your blower fan? Does it stop when blower is off?

Ac makes whining noise on a 2004 Pontiac grand prix

Is the whining noise coming from the engine compartment where the compressor is located or is the noise coming from inside the car? If the noise if coming from inside the car it could be your blower. When a blower wears down the bushing is the first thing to wear down and it begins to have play. That makes the blower/fan vibrate making a loud whining noise. Replacing the blower could solve that whining noise.
If the noise if coming from the AC compressor, it also could be a bad bearing within the compressor.

Whinning noise when engine is off

Whinning Causes
The whining noise you hear coming from the power steering pump is one of three things. The first is more of a loud "hush" than a whine; this is the sound of fluid rushing through the bypass valve when you turn the wheel all the way to one side or the other. Sometimes the bypass valve malfunctions or doesn't open all the way, causing pressure to back up in the pump and cause your engine rpm to drop. The second and third causes result from cavitation -- vacuum pockets created behind the rotor's vane blades as a result of extremely high pump action -- or air in the lines.

have you looked at the tires- if they are wore down the wear bars-little bands of rubber that cross the grooves in tread will be exposed and the noise is your warning to get new tires soon

Sounds like your belt is slipping. I would check the condition of the belt and test the Belt Tensioner.

The problem I posted earlier is on a 1996 Buick LeSabre.

two things it would be 1 your battery could be bad even if it is not
dead and will start your car it could have a bad cell
the other thing could be the belt is loose and not letting the alternator
spin fast to charge the battery so it slips on the belt but thats what the noise is the belt check the battery at autozone for free
and if thats not it its the belt
