Trunk is full of water! 1997 Sentra

I removed the drain plug in the spare well, but where could the water becoming from? My 1997 Sentra is in good shape, no problems with the trunk seal. Where could all this water be coming in from? Are there common spots for leaks?

How do you know the trunk seal is not leaking? Did you sit in the closed trunk while someone sprayed copious amounts of water over it? The other most common leak spot is from one of the tail lights. There is a goopy material that goes aroung the tail light that is supposed to seal it. You can usually pick this up at a auto supply store. It can also be coming from a body seam in the trunk. Check the lights and then check the body seams.

Does the 1995 Toyota camry have a drain plug in the trunk to drain rainwater out?? trunk leaks.

Probably not.
I'd suggest that you check the rubber seal. Sometimes you have to remove, clean, and re-install them with rubber cement.
Tracking down and fixing the leak is a lot more rewarding than drilling holes to let the water run out.

Water leaking from plugs on bottom of gas tank

That makes no sense whatsoever. If water were coming out of the fuel tank, so would fuel and the car would not be driveable in that condition. What you are thinking is the fuel tank may well be the bottom of the trunk. The spare tire wells in most trunks have drain holes in case water gets into the trunk. This is more common than you think. The gasket that seals the trunk lid often gets loose over time and allows water intrusion. The water finds its way to the spare tire well and drains out.

!991 buick park avenue. the trunk fills with water during heavy rains..resealing rear window didn't help..where in the heck is the drain plug for the trunk..if any?

There is no drain plug. For the leaks be certain to investigate: sunroof drains, taillight seals, and the trunk seal. Many trunk seals actually channel water into the trunk. New designs are available on many GMs.

There is water getting into the trunk on the drivers side

check the weather trim along the trunk opening to make sure it is in good shape and properly fasten to the trunk.then check the trunk floor for a rotted out section(remove the trunk carpet)check the wheel well were the body of the car contacts the wheel well seam for areas that are not may have to use a strong light to check areas to find any open area by shining the light from the outside in.there is also a plug that is in the floor of the trunk that is used to drain any liquid out by removing it,check and make sure it is in properly.if you find an area, you can seal it with either stone guard or roofing tar that gets hard when cured.

I have a brand new 2011 Nissan Sentra 2.0S. Found water in the wheel well of spare tire in trunk. Nissan tested it for leak and of course found nothing. Happened on 2 ocassions. Suspect undercarriage car...

probablly the result of insufficiently sealed body seams.empty trunk, sprinkle baby powder everywhere use vehicle or get it washed and look for trails in powder ...follow back to source.a little messy but very definitive!

I have a 2002 Dodge Neon, 4 cyl, automatic. Water is leaking into the trunk and under back passenger seats. Is this only from tail lights as suggested online?

I would check the trunk seal first.

1. Thoroughly clean the seal and the surface it touches with windex.

2. Apply a semi thin layer of grease to the seal, you don't want alot just enough to transfer to the other surface when you close the trunk.

3. Close trunk completely and then reopen and examine the grease pattern on the surface it touches.

If there is a break or a messy spot (smear) in the pattern that is where the water might be leaking on from.

Trunk leaking

I'm not sure how you know the weatherstrip isn't leaking, here's what i would do.With a trusted helper, get in the trunk and latch it.Have the helper spray the entire trunk area with a garden hose while you watch for any water leaks. That's the best way to check the weatherstrip for leaks, and it is likely that's where the leak is coming from.
