Question about 2003 Buick Century

1 Answer

My son car dies every once in awhile and we have put a new fuel pump in it and a filter and change plugs.what else could it be My 2003 Buick Century every 50 to 100 starts what happens is I get in my car and try to start it and it does absolutely nothing, there is no sound no click, the car does not even attempt to turn over as if my battery is completely dead. This usually happens when I have started and stopped the car a lot that day and the car is hot. When I let the car cool down or sit for about 20 to 40 minutes it starts again with no problems and the problem doesnt reoccur again for another several days.

I just looked up tje neutral saftey switch and staring in 2003 the switch is internal in the trans so it wont be a easy fix
you will need to buy a test light so we can give you some places to test when it wont start.

1996 buick century misfire

My 96 century with a 3.1 v-6 gave me fits for years shooting a 171 code(running too lean) I wound up changing the fuel filter and the problem went away. If it's been a while since the filter was changed, try it.

Car died. changed fuel pump and both filters. car will turn over but will not start. any help is appreciated.

Check for spark and fuel as a starting point. If you're getting fuel pressure at the rail, then the fuel pump and filters are not the problem.

Possible crankshaft sensor if the spark is not getting to the spark plugs in the 1992 Buick Century.

Shuts down after getting hot 1992 buick century custom has high mileage transmission is okay last tune up at 60,000 one plug was not changed hard to get to

What you need to do is check and see if your losing fuel or spark when it dies.If it`s spark then you probably have a bad ignition module. If fuel you will have to check the fuel pressure. If it is a 3.3 then it should be 41-47 psi.If not check fuel filter for being plugged. If ok then replace fuel pump.Hope this helps.Good luck.

2002 Buick Century 3.1L V6 hesitates to start

With everything you have done the only thing left is the MAF or Map sensor . This is what tells the computer the altitude and air density to know how to deliver fuel.. If its lying to the computer you will have drivability problems. A scanner will show this data.

Where is fuel filter

The fuel filter on your 2003 Buick Century is located on the left side under the back dor and is up into the inside rocker panel. The filter is held in by a strap that has a 1/2 inch bolt and the filter itself requires a 13/16 wrencha dn a 5/8 line wrench when taking it apart. The line coming in from the trank side has the push on connector that you need to push it towards the filter body and then squeeze the two plastic wing to let it release the filter. The new filters now come with a new plastic wing so it yo really get fustrated with it you can force it and it should still be okay as the new one will work when you put it back on.
