HELP!!!! 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix

Went into store for an hour came back car will not start.Tried jumping it off, tapped on the starter, no good. Check engine light was on but no other warning gages. The belt needed replacing and the car was making a rough noise under hood. It smells like wires are burning now. Anyone have any clues. Need the car for work

Try jumping again and feel the postive cable the red one to see if it gets hot if it dose its probably the starter ..the burning smell could be the cable getting hot.

98 grand prix won't start battery good tried jump start nothing removed glove box relay clicking ? checked fuses under hood in fuss box all good will not turn over clicking noise from relay...

Better check with a test light for power to the small wire that goes to the starter from the key switch. If no power need to check for a neutral safety switch or fuse. Or the starter you got is bad. Alternator will not cause not to crank over

06 pontiac grand prix wont start no clicking when you turn the key over even jump starting the battery, has dash lights & radio & parking lights. battery tested good. put a used starter & altinator on

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

Pontiac starting problem

Need a little clarification to help. When you say the starter would not engage, do you mean it made no noise and didn't spin? I assume this is what you are talking about. Can be a few items. It may be the neutral safety switch (or clutch switch if manual transmission), wiring or the starter. Probably the starter has a dead spot and needs to be replaced. You can try and tap the side of the starter with a hammer and see if that works (if it does replace the starter) Modern starters come with the solenoid attached. Hope that helps. Can help more with a lttile more info.

1998 grand prix stalled out doesnt have enough

if you got battery life in it, ur starter is heating up let it sit for a bit.. give the starter a few taps with a hammer or screw driver.. it should get you going for a while and if not you should buy a new starter or rebuild ur old one
