Question about 2003 GMC Envoy

3 Answers

My 2003 Envoy makes a noise when it crosses a bump.

On smooth pavement, my Envoy rides good, but when there are imperfections in the road the Envuy rattles at low speeds as though something is loose. On the interstate at highway speeds there are no rattles. What could be causing this?

Old post, but rattling sounds like your swaybar links, very common problem. Grab a hold of the link and move it around, if loose, replace it.

I can help you, does yours sound like knocking metal to metal? OR is it squeaking?

Could be the exhaust system hitting on something when the suspension moves. Inspect under the car and look for shiny spots that are making contact.

You're correct friend, on replacing with heavier duty shocks. That would be a plus for your driving experience. The short wheelbase on these "Blazer" style vehicles does make for a rough ride.

A BEARING MAKES A GROWELING NOISE.
BRAKES WOULD MAKE THE NOISE WHEN APPLIED.

Klunk noise when crossing abrupt road bumps. Replaced shocks; no help. Have check all suspension hinge joints for wear on rubber blocks or loose bolts - nothing loose or broken there.

Terrible rear end rattle

It's probably the rear sway bar links. If you can jack your car up and check right behind both rear wheels you will be abale to see the sway bar which is connected to short links about 5in long with ball joints.

If either of them are broken or not connected anymore it can cause some pretty loud noises when you ride on rough roads or hit bumps. They run about $35 per link so it's not a very expensive repair.
