what indications have you got that makes you think the ABS is not operational?
under normal braking applications ( anything up to a panic stop) there is very little indication that the ABS is working as it only cuts in when a wheel stops revolving
at that point you will feel pulsations under your foot
run the fault codes and check for an ABS reported problem in case the light has blown out
The problem is the lights on the dash coming on! They are indicating a possible fault that needs looking at! The brake light will have been reset once the brakes were serviced so we can dismiss that! The alternator light indicates that the battery is not being charged sufficiently! If the battery is not being charged then the vehicle will only run as long as the battery has charge in it.....since it is not charging properly the car will stall if the battery is not fully charged and will cut out completely when the battery is discharged! Get the alternator checked/replaced straight away!
the ABS light of course is warning u that the ABS has developed a fault and has been disabled by the ABS control module, the only way to find out what is wrong and how much it is going to cost to repair is having the dealer test the system for the trouble code that is set in the control modules memory whenever this light is turned on. Right now u have just regualr brakes, no ABS function.
What you will need to do is have the system scanned for codes. Your local Auto Zone or Advanced Auto will scan the vehicle at no cost for you. Write the code numbers down and reply back.
When both lights come on, it is indicating one of the ABS sensing components is not operating properly. Your base brakes will be fine, however the ABS function will not work properly. No danger of base brakes not stopping the vehicle.
My guess at this point would be a wheel speed sensor faulty, but again, only a guess until you get the codes scanned.
Get the codes and let me know.
