Question about 1996 Ford Explorer

Speedometer not working

The speedometer is only working once in a while. How do you fix this problem. It is on a 96 ford explorer sport. Also i need a diagram for the fuses. Not sure which fuse is burnt out and what it runs

You have fuses in the car close to the stirring wheel, and then there is under the hood more fuses in a back closer to the right back of the explorer. try that but it does sound as if your meter has to be fixed by a mechanic because the magnet for it sounds like it is needing some help. Odometer quit working


I have a 96 Ford Explorer Sport and I noticed that the odometer and the Trip meter had stopped working. I pushed the Trip meter to 0 it out. When to town and I had not went even one mile. I had indeed went 22 miles. What caused it to stop?

Speedometer stops working once in a while


check for a loose wire at the back of the cluster, it will look like it is still in the connector but it is not all the way in, I forgot witch pin it is but it is in the middle row or bottom and about the 5-8th pin from the left, Hope this helps

Speedometer is broken, how do i fix it??


Your issue is the "speed sensor". It's a small unit in the transmission that controls your speedometer. It is usually held in by 1 bolt, and has a wire clip attached to it. It's not a hard fix, but the part is kind of expensive; $70 to $100.

1997 ford explorer speedometer mot working most of the time


it should be the speedometer sensor connected to the tranny. it is easy to get at. and it should cost less then 40.00 dollars.when you drive the explorer. wind wiggles the wires around under the truck making it work sometimes.

How to replace '96 Ford Explorer driver side exterior door handle


You will need to remove the door panel to gain access to the handle. Roll the window up or down as needed to get to the nuts that attach the handle to the door. You will also need to remove a rod the goes to the door lock. You will see the rod after the door panel is removed. Good luck.
