If it is a manual trans it is in the clutch arm under the dash and if automatic it is at the base of the steering column

Yes this would be a transmission neutral safety switch problem. the switch sit over the post that the shift cable attaches to on the ****** case. Picture below.

I disconnected the clutch cable under the dash of my 95' ford mustang gt and connected it back and now it will not turn over or start at all. All the fuses are good and have power, what could it be?


check the neutral safety switch located near the top of the clutch pedal, probably knocked the wires off, if you need more help get back to me

If its a manual tranny the neutral safety switch is mounted on the clutch pedal linkage under the dash,

if its a automatic its mounted on the side of the tranny where the linkage connects

I have a 96 ford mustang Gt. When I push the clutch in the car wont start up. I have power and the battery and the fuses are good.


It should have a clutch saftey switch on the clutch pedal.Its a saftey feature simular to a neutral saftey switch it will only allow the engine to crank when the pedal is fully depressed.

1990 mustang v8 5.0automatic starts in neutral but put in park,reverse,or gear 1 kills motor


Change the neutral safety switch located on the transmission. It may just be loose. If it's loose, retighten after adjusting. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

try holding up on shift lever when trying to start it if this works the neutral saftey switch located under dash towards end of column

The neutral safety switch just allows you to start the car in only park and neutral. you may have a linkage problem, or something wrong with your tranny.
