Been having a no start issue when key turned over the past year but it would eventually start. Just this last friday had the same problem but happened about 60 miles from home. Tried everything that i could think of without having any tools really. Ended up taking the battery to have it tested, it was bad, got a new one but still no start. After this i removed the starter and had it bench tested, worked fine. I decided to run a toggle to the starter to see if that would work, car started right up after that. Over the weekend the car started once with the key but other then that i had to use the temp toggle switch when key was in run position. I have seen on another post that GM passkey should not allow it to start and stay running, though i am not very familiar with passkey security. I am leaning towards an ignition switch but we have also experienced the key sticking in the tumbler lately. Any ideas?? Thanks!

SOURCE: Ignition problem
hey, I had the same problem before, exactly the same thing. I had to replace the ignition switch wiring, not the ignition key cylinder. the wires that go from steering wheel to the bottom near the brake and gas pedals, is not hard to do, I did it myself and the wiring cost 90.00. that fixed my problem, try!!!

if battery cable and starter is good . key entry security mode is on or going bad .try another car key .if cranks that it if not. put key in ignition. turn the key to on position .for 10 minutes. dont touch nothing if security lights off turn switch off for 5 secs.if starts your .security body control module or ignition switch is bad that a dealer ship job .have to have tech 2 scanner to reprogram it to crank.

On many cars, if the battery is dead, it locks the key in the ignition. Put a battery charger on the car or replace the battery and give it a shot.
Good luck.

get your catalytic converter checked, i have a 2002 gt model and GM just replaced the old with a new one free of charge. They have been having problems with them clogging up so they extended the warranty to 190000kms or 10 years. had the same issues as you and when it was replaced all was good, even sounded better. hope this helps and I hope you get the same deal as I did. it is not a recall so you have to bring it up to them. Good luck.
