Sometimes the rear upper door and the driver's door on my 02 Excursion will not lock or unlock until I use the key. After researching this problem, I suspect it is the door lock actuator located in each affected door. They can be purchased online. If you also suspect this and want to fix it yourself, go to this website for a how to with pictures and written instructions. http://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/...

Drivers side will lock & unlock with the door lock/unlock button. However, the other doors will only lock with the same button...they will not unlock!

I will post results after I try the solutions listed.

After researching this problem, I suspect it is the door lock actuator located in each affected door. They can be purchased online. If you also suspect this and want to fix it yourself by removing the door panel and the old actuator, then installing the new actuator, test the locks, then install the door panel. Happened to me. Remove the door trim, WD40 the latching system and work it back and forth, you will be able to see were it gets hung up.

2009 chevy equinox rear passenger door won't unlock with remote

Lock/unlock motor may be failing. Remove the door panel and remove the connector from the lock motor. Check the dc voltage at the connector while pressing the lock switch. If you see battery voltage, replace the motor. If the voltage is low, inspect the wiring.

Rear hatch and barn doors will not lock or alarm with remote, key or lock button.

In time with usage, the electric locks in the doors and gates wear out.
You can purchase replacement parts... a little involved to change but doable.
I suggest a Haynes manual for photos for disassembly .
(I've got a 2001 and all 4 doors eventually quit...bought replacement parts at local dealer)

Driver and Passenger auto door locks are inop.

Sounds like bad wiring, or bad door lock actuators. Check for power while locking/unlocking the doors.

Try this, it works on several 2002 models:

Step 1: Open drivers door and leave open.

Step 2: Lock and unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door.

Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.

Step 4: Turn key to on position and return to off position. (IMPORTANT - use ON position NOT ACC position). Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. Leave key in the ignition.

Step 5: Open and close the drivers door 3 times. (Door should be left open after this step).

Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors.

Step 7: Press any button on remote #1. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.

Step 8: Press any button on remote #2 (etc.) Each time the ECU will respond by locking & unlocking the doors.

Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series of door locks and unlocks. You're done
