Re: front door handle broke of on the passenger side-...
There is a ring clip behind the circular base of the old handle that has to be pushed off with a flat head screwdriver. Push in the cloth and look closely when you find it there is a small area that is not closed all the way that is where you push it off. It takes a little patience but you will get it. Then the handle simply slides off. Then just put the new one on and push the clip on and you are good to go. This will help

study the new fender and where there is a bolt hole then that is where you will find the bolts to remove on the old fender . They will normally be along the top inside , at the bottom near the door and around the bumper and up the panel that the door hinges are attached to
sounds like the handle clip inside door popped off or broke[there are rods for locks and rods for door handles ] if can open from inside remove door panel and check clip at door handle the clips usually pops or breaks during winter ,cold days most auto stores have these clips
This iis very coomon, the part of the handle that broke is the part that releases the latch, you will need to replace the handle, the inside door panel needs to be removed to replace the handle, some of these are revited on and you will need to drill out revits from the outside and disconnect the linkage from the inside, hope this is helpful.
it is an easy fix! there are 4 screws needing to come off the door to gain access to the interior. once in you will need to release a clip and also remove a bar from either an orange or black clip....once these are removed, you put in the new door handle, attach the clips back on, attach the screws and you are ready to go!
Remove screw from inside door grab handle. Remove door panel by carefully prying out plastic clips. Drill or chisel off pop rivets holding the handle on. Pull handle out far enough to disconnect linkage and remove handle. Install new handle and secure to metal panel with new pop rivets or sheet metal screws. It may be easier to reconnect linkages by removing the metal panel also.
easy fix , just remove inside door cover, and install new handle, but handle broke because of bad hendge bushings making door hard to open, driver side ususlly first to brake then passenger door a year later. need body shop to replace door bushings
Same problem. I have a 2000 Suzuki Esteem GL. A year ago the driver's door handle broke. Heard a sound and then it was loose. Could not open it from outside. Had to open front passenger door, open the driver's door from inside and then go out again to enter from the driver's door. FRUSTRATING. My mechanic had to take the door apart to fix it. Just a week ago, my front passenger door died on me. Can't open it from outside nor inside. The door won't open. This is such a stupid problem that costs lots to repair. Never will buy a Suzuki again. Had too many problems with it (had to fix gas tank, doors that won't open, front axle...).
On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle,
arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the
panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want
to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to
get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel
and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and
disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door
