SOURCE: High engine idle 94 Mercury Cougar

replace throttle body gasket. first check to see if carbon has built up around the throttle valves in throttle body if so remove and clean it with throttle body cleaner.and a old tooth brush. besure to remove all electrical components or any thing that plastic or rubber the cleaner will destroy it.

SOURCE: Where is the ac low pressure side port on 1997 Cougar

Its on the Passenger side of the engine bay between the strut tower and the valve cover. It should have a blue cap on it, or maybe a black cap. Follow the ac line coming out of the back of the compressor and youll see it.

Need torque setting for cylinder head 1995 mercury cougar 3.8

New bolts are recommended, but the following applies.

For 3.8-liter engines manufactured from 1994 until 1995, the cylinder head requires multiple steps in a helical sequence to bolt properly: first to 15 foot-lbs. of torque, then to 29 foot-lbs., and finally to 37 foot-lbs.. Loosen the long bolts to between 29 and 37 foot-lbs. of torque and the short bolts to between 7 and 15 foot-lbs. of torque. Then, tighten each bolt an additional 90 degrees. The last two steps--the loosening and then the 90 degree tightening--should both be performed on each bolt before moving to the next bolt.

Po208

Well code 208 is for a problem with the fuel injector for cylinder number 8.
But a 2000 Mercury Cougar does not have an 8 cylinder engine.

Were is crankshaft position sensor located on a 95 mercury cougar xr7?

First, if you would like to receive USEFUL information about your vehicle, (ESPECIALLY when you are asking about engine controls) it would be nice if you would mention WHICH ENGINE your vehicle is equipped with!

1995 Mercury Cougar XR7 was equipped with 3 different engines:
3.8L NON-SC VIN CODE [4]
3.8L SC VIN CODE [R]
4.6L V-8 VIN CODE [W]

The crank sensor for both of the 3.8L engines is located at the lower right FRONT of the engine.

The crank sensor for the 4.6L engine is located at the lower right REAR of the engine.

Where is the idle screw on a 97 cougar, v-8

Hi, welcome to FixYa.com my name is Shawn and I will be answering your question.

There is an idle screw on the throttle body but you should never adjust it the idle is computer controlled. If the idle is low you have a vacuum leak or a bad Idle air control valve.

I hope my assistance helped you and resolved your concern, if you need further assistance please ask.

I need to find the location on the freeze plugs on my 1995 Mercury Cougar.

Look on the block below the cylinder heads for a leaky freeze plug if that's the problem you are having.
