SOURCE: 2005 GMC 3500 PU LOW OIL PRESSURE

You didn't say how many miles were on the truck or if there was any clunking down around the oil pan. If your pressure gauge is wandering, your oil pressure sending unit may be bad. If the sending unit is OK, it is time to drop the oil pan.

You may have to drop the tie rod or sway bar to get it out. Check the oil pick-up screen for blockage. If it is clear, check the oil pump for excess play. Replace if needed. If the screen is blocked, clean it by soaking in solvent, replace the oil pump, drop the rod and main bearing caps and examine the crank bearing surfaces. If they are in good condition, you can buy .001" undersized bearings. Lubricate generously and reassemble. Torque to the correct setting, then put the pan back on. This job can be done by one or two moderately skilled back yard mechanics if supplied with a case of beer.

If the bearing surfaces are scarred, take the crankshaft out and take it to a machine shop. You are going to have to take out the timing chain on the front end and unbolt the torque converter or flywheel from the back end of the crank. This job requires a good bit more skill, so unless you have an expert mechanic on speed dial, take it to a shop.

SOURCE: fuel filter change 2002 sierra 1500 hd 6 liter

It is located on the drivers side frame rail right under door, it is small round silver canister with a single bolt thur a anchor strap with a metal line feed in the back and the front.put wrench on the housing nut and a wrench on the line comming in to filter losen the nut on the line side, holding the filter firm, break fitting loose, there will be a small amount of pressure, and gas will run out so don't be smoking. take out the single bolt to remove the filter, installing new filter look for an arrow or the words in, out that is the fuel flow, fuel goes IN & OUT to the motor.Re-install and check for LEAKS.

  4. Remove the sending unit and seal.
  5. Discard the seal.
    CAUTION
Drain the fuel from the fuel sender assembly
into an approved container in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal
injury. Never store the fuel in an open container.

  6. Clean sealing surfaces.

To Install:

CAUTION
In order to reduce the risk of fire and
personal injury that may result from a fuel leak, always replace the fuel sender
gasket when reinstalling the fuel sender assembly.

  1. Install a NEW seal.
    CAUTION
The fuel pump strainer must be in a
horizontal position when the sending unit is installed in the tank. When
installing the sending unit, assure that the fuel pump strainer does not block
full travel of the float arm.

  2. Install the sending unit into the fuel tank.
  3. Using J 45722 or equivalent, install the sending unit lock ring.
  4. Connect the fuel lines to the sending unit.
  5. Install the fuel tank.

SOURCE: My 2002 GMC Yukon Denali's fuel guage goes up

Most likely the rheostat on the float is bad. Unfortunately, this is part of the fuel pump and inside the fuel tank.

My 2002 GMC Yukon Denali's fuel guage goes up and down sometimes. It is not always reading correctly. Is this a sensor problem or a fuel pump problem.

2002 yukon deneli quit running--seems to be fuel problem--what checks can i perform

Fuel pressure test.. make sure there is pressure coming from your pump.. you will need a gauge a shop can do it for you.. Also when you put your key in on position listen for priming of a fuel pump. It should be for 2 or 3 seconds. if you hear that kinda buzzing noise your fuel pump is working so that is not the problem which rules out a big cost.

02 6 liter Denali sputtered and died while driving on highway. Started once or twice afterward but than died again. Has fuel pressure at fuel rail when pressing schrader valve with key on. Cranks, will...

possibly 4 things 1 bad ignition coil heating up then breaking down,2 clogged fuel filter,3 weak fuel pump,4 bad throttle position sensor or map sensor to check sensors simply put on hand held scanner and look for codes. replace fuel filter replace coil pack along with tune up plugs wires put fuel pressure gauge to see if fuel pump is working properly

Vehicle chokes, sputters, and then shuts off

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter may have reached the end of it's life time and is dirty causing the issues you have. The worst is the fuel pump it self has gone bad and needs to be replaced, the fuel pump should be producing 62 to 65 PSI when the engine is started and should drop no more then 5 PSI when the engine is running. You can check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve with a fuel pressure gauge. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help get your Yukon running 100% again.

There isn't any fuel getting to my truck and it won't start

No fuel pressure indicates one of three problems. Fuse in fuse box, relay in relay box under the hood or fuel pump located in fuel tank.
