Just try this. I had the same problem here a while back. try clicking on the high beam lever. mine went bad and was stuck in between high and low beam and would not come unstuck. and it caused the headlights not to work...

The black wire with yellow tracer is voltage for tail lamps. With the headlamp switch on, any voltage on that wire? Use a test light to check. Also check fuse 14--15amp.

Where is the light relay on 97 jimmy

There is a headlight relay on 1998 models, but not 1997.
And if you have daytime running lights there is a relay for that.
But none of that would affect the dash lights.
So my vote is for the problem being in the actual headlight switch, or a wiring connection. The headlights, parking lights, and dash lights are all on different circuits and fuses. But they all go thru the switch.

Where is the headlight relay in the 1998 jimmy? Low beams won't come onat night everything else does. high beams work

There is a headlight relay in the engine compartment fuse box, but its after the headlight switch and before the dimmer switch, so it powers both high and low beam circuits.
I would check the dimmer switch.

1998 gmc jimmy blowing brake light fuses, and headlights are not working corectly when the headlight switch is off, and its bright daylight outside.

The brake lamp fuse is blowing due to short to ground.Chances are you have a faulty bulb filament crossing over to another filament inside it.Remove the an inspect closely for a loose filament by lightly tapping on each of them.

How to shot off the security system in a 2000 gmc jimmy

Remove the cover off of your ignition switch. On the top there is a small wire connector that, once the truck is running, should be disconnected. This will turn on the 'SECURITY' light. All will be better, except the security light will be on at all times, much cheaper than replacing the ignition switch, however

Preventing the headlights from automatically coming on

Pull the DRL fuse. DRL=Day time Running Lamps. That will disable it completely and lights will only come on with your switch. Want to keep the lights on automatic just not when started? I don't know.
