Steering mounted radio control button light replacement

Hello, have a 1999 Chevy S10 Blazer 4 dr 4WD. One of the four radio control buttons mounted on the steering wheel has a burned out light. The other three are fine and do illuminate. Is this is difficult repair? Thank you

Thank you for the information. With the limited information I was able to find on the web regarding the actual repair process of the radio buttons, it spoke about removing the air bag, steering wheel etc to get to perform this repair since these steering mounted radio buttons come as an assembly with a plastic housing and the parts mentioned are removed to access the button assembly. I don't know if this is correct or not and it seems like bad engineering to go through the effort of removing those parts just to replace a button or in this case the light for the button. Thanks

The radio buttons come as a set, they are very easy to replace but being a dealer only part a bit pricey.

I don't know if this is exactly like my silverado, but I was able to skip the part about removing the airbag and wheel by busting out the button from the front and removing the pieces. Then I was simply able to plug in the new button and push it through. The new button (from the dealer) only cost about $15, yours will prob be similarly priced. Good luck!

I have a 1996 chevy blazer and dont know how to disengage from four wheel drive to two wheel drive?

As I recall the 96 blazer had electronic shifting for 2wd to 4wd. There should be a small panel on the drivers dash buttons for 2wd, 4wd lo and 4wd hi.

Simply press the desired button while stationary and if the system is functioning properly then it will shift and the light for the engaged type of drive will be lighted. Generally you would like to be in 2wd for this vehicle.

vacuum leak or vacuum locker solenoid problem. a great way to check for both is to remove both vacuum lines from the solenoid (located on firewall above destributor), and put a connector between them, push the button on the dash and see if it locks in.

Replace the bulb in a 95 Blazer 4WD switch on the dash

the square box that all 3 lights are held in by can be taken out, just pry it on the top or bottom with a flat head screw driver, once you get it out you should see the wires that connect to the buttons, there are four tabs, 2 on each side, that you can just push in and the back panel should come off, it will look like a circuit board. twist the light bulb left or right and you should see how it comes out, just replace the bulb, and put back in and twist. should only have to twist 1/4 of a turn. snap everything back in place and it should be working. hope this helps.
